LiseWorks Oh my goodness, as a Canadian, I think I want to do this, by the way, I painted this. It's Mareign Lake in Alberta. Can I be included? 1w
Kitta Also Canadian and having trouble thinking of food that‘s not French Canadian! 😂 What are people planning to eat? Maple syrup? Canadian bacon? I‘d highly recommend butter tarts but idk where you can find them. 1w
Kitta @LiseWorks oh wow you painted this? Beautiful! 1w

LiseWorks @kitta, I'll post a photo of it for you to see. Also I'm french Canadian, lol, but I can cook all kinds of recipes that will have maple syrup, bacon but not necessarily french Canadian 😋 1w
Liz_M @Kitta Poutine? 1w
Kitta @LiseWorks Id love to see it! I always get asked about what actually is Canadian food lol. I think beavertails and maple syrup on snow when I think of home. 1w
Kitta @Liz_M yes! But that‘s French Canadian. 1w
Catsandbooks @LiseWorks absolutely! Do you want to be added to the tag list or just participate this month? 1w
TheBookHippie This one makes me smile Canada is closer to me than most of you all 😂😅🙂. 1w
Bookwormjillk And the new Louise Penny comes out on Tuesday! 1w
Karisa I‘m hooked on the Louise Penny Gamache series. So this one will be automatically read for me! There‘s lots of yumminess mentioned in her books too 1w
vonnie862 I hope to have better luck in November. 1w
mcctrish @Karisa I always want to eat whatever they are eating in Three Pines 1w
LiseWorks Put me on the list and I'll decide monthly if I want to go ahead for now please @Catsandbooks 1w
Catsandbooks @LiseWorks added you! 😊 1w

Repost for @Jess861

Looking to see if there would be any interest in a bookclub or buddyread around Canadian Fiction for the year of 2025. I'm thinking a monthly or bi-monthly book to read at your own pace with some discussion at the end of the month. If anyone is interested, just comment below :).

lauraisntwilder Oh, that could be interesting! 4w
Jess861 @lauraisntwilder Thanks! There are so many great Canadian books to explore! 4w
KathyWheeler My parents are Canadian and most of my extended family is. We are some of the few family members in the US. I‘d love to know more about Canadian literature. 4w

Ruthiella Yes please! If possible, I‘d prefer bimonthly, just to keep the various group reads under control. 4w
CarolynM I‘d be interested in joining in, although every month might be beyond me. 4w
Jess861 @KathyWheeler that would be great if you decide to join in! 4w
Jess861 @Ruthiella Awesome! I do think bi-monthly will end up working better since there are so many group read options that people are a part of! 4w
Jess861 @CarolynM Great if you are able to join! I am leaning more towards bi-monthly and of course you can participate as your able or feel like it. It'll be pretty easy going 🙂 4w
LapReader I‘m in. 3w
Jess861 @LapReader Great to have you join :). 3w
kwmg40 I‘d like to join, and bimonthly would work well for me. 3w
Jess861 @kwmg40 Great! I think I can confirm it will be bimonthly at this point as that is what most are leaning towards. 3w
Jess861 @lauraisntwilder @KathyWheeler @Ruthiella @CarolynM @LapReader @kwmg40

I think there is enough interest to go ahead on a bimonthly basis starting in January 😊. I'm going to add you to the tag list as you all showed interest but if you don't want to be please let me know. In mid to end November I think I'll put up a vote (2 or 3 books) on what we'd like to read first. I'd love to start with an Indigenous author and already have many ideas!
3w
CarolynM Great! I have very little knowledge of Canadian literature so I‘m happy to go along with whatever titles you suggest. Looking forward to it 😀 3w
lauraisntwilder Sounds great! 3w
KathyWheeler @Jess861 Sounds great! 3w
kwmg40 Looking forward to this! Being a Canadian, I have read a lot of Canadian books but I'm always happy to reread worthy books and also hope to discover some new authors. 2w
Readergrrl I‘m interested, for sure! Part-time Canadian here; spend my summers with family in the Maritimes! 2w
Jess861 @Readergrrl I'll add you to the tag list 🙂 2w

Repost for @julesG

Dear #OokBOokClub-ers,

I am proposing a #Discworld re-read based on the above reading guide. #SirTerryPratchett himself suggested starting with Sourcery, so that's what I'd suggest too.

I can draw up a reading schedule.

Your thoughts?

Let me know if you want to be tagged in future postings.

Thank you all, dear #OokBOokClub-ers!

We've read our way through the #PratchettVerse. It was a pleasure hosting the #ReadAlong and discussing the books with you.

Thank you to @TricksyTails for starting the #EpicBuddyread. I took over hosting in the autumn of 2018 (thank you, @DGRachel, for helping me find my feet) and I'm sure to miss my regular calendar alarms reminding me to send off the next #OokBOokClub posts.

What are we reading next?

willaful Start over? 😁 8mo
julesG @willaful Definitely an option. 8mo
See All 19 Comments
kwmg40 I would love starting over, as I joined this buddy read late and never caught up. I‘ve finished about a third of the books. However, I‘d totally understand the rest of the group wanting to move on and do something new! 8mo
TheSpineView I would like to choose another author. However, I did miss a lot because I went down several rabbit holes. 8mo
kwmg40 Another author would be fine with me, but if we do end up rereading Pratchett's books, maybe we can start with a collection (such as City Watch or Witches) instead of reading through all the books in publication order? 8mo
julesG @kwmg40 I like that idea of reading the collections. But I'm also up for a new author, @TheSpineView. 8mo
BookmarkTavern I‘d love either way! This has been an utter delight! 8mo
julesG @BookmarkTavern @TheSpineView @kwmg40 @willaful - Re: re-reading Pratchett -- I'd want to do Discworld collections. I'm not very keen on (re-)reading The Long Earth series, but would be up to re-read the children's books (Carpet People, Maurice, etc.). Re: different author, my thoughts -- a) it should be an author with at least 12 books under their belt to get us through a year at least, b) it should be "light" reading, c) ⬇️ 8mo
julesG c) books should be easy to access, neither of us wants to comb through archives or spend lots of money on collectors' copies, d) I'm open to suggestions 8mo
TheSpineView @julesG As a reread are you thinking an author in the same vein? Like Neil Gaiman? 8mo
julesG @TheSpineView Gaiman came to mind, but he has some doorstoppers (American Gods). Also thought Jasper Fforde and Ben Aaronovitch. Jodi Taylor might work too. Further Chesterton and Wodehouse, who were both influences for Pratchett. 8mo
julesG And if we stick to a Pratchett re-read then I'd want to do The Witches, Death, The Watch,... 8mo
kwmg40 If we're going outside the fantasy genre, Chesterton and Wodehouse would be OK with me. Within fantasy, maybe Martha Wells or Seanan McGuire (who also writes as Mira Grant)? Their works aren't necessarily “light“ as in humorous but they tend to be quick to read and there are lots of novella-length works. 8mo
kwmg40 If we stay with Pratchett, my top choices would be City Watch or Industrial as collections, as I have the most gaps in those collections, but any would be fine with me. 8mo
SconsinBookyBadger Please tag me for the next buddy reads whichever direction it leads to a re-read or different author. I fell behind on this one and regret has been nagging at me lately. 8mo
julesG @SconsinBookyBadger I know that feeling. Will tag you. 8mo
rretzler I have no idea how I missed this until it was over. I guess partially because I haven‘t been active in a couple of years, but I wish I had some upon it before now! Please tag me if you do something else. 8mo
julesG @rretzler Will do! 8mo
