LOVED this book! A laugh out loud rom com. This is a #PrideandPrejudice retelling about South Asian Muslims in Toronto but doesn't follow the original too closely. It's the Darcy equivalent Khalid who is the MC actually as he's the one w/ the growing to do. He starts off judgemental, conventional, unable to not do what his mom tells him. His journey is real! His and Ayesha's love story was cute & sexy despite the fact they never even kiss?

I LOVED this book and could not put it down! Amina and her relationships with her family and friends are relatable to young readers, especially readers who may be first or second generation immigrants. While the conclusion felt a bit rushed and too tidy, I enjoyed every moment of this book and would highly recommend it to anyone. #diversebooks #diverseauthors #ownvoice #muslimbooks

Telling the story of a young girl learning why her mother chose to wear the hijab and what it means to Muslim women, this book is a great resource for teaching children about hijab in a way that they can understand. It combats many misconceptions non-Muslims have about the hijab, and it does so in a respectful and positive tone. Although I enjoyed reading this short novel, the writing did feel a bit clunky at times. #diversebooks #muslimbooks

Day 7 of #Booktober: #LitsyConfessions I borrowed this book from the library for so long that it's mine now. It was overdue and when I thought I was paying fines for some books I was accidentally paying the replacement fee for this book. I was intending to buy it anyway so I just kept it instead of donating it back to the library like I normally would. Oops. 😬😬😬

If you haven't read this yet you should. It's worth the replacement fee! 😂

Margio inexplicably murders a man by biting him, leaving the town baffled by how this was possible & why peaceful Margio resorted to violence. Kurniawan spins an intricately woven tale with magical realism that unravels the mystery of two interlinked families & why Margio killed. He explores betrayal, familial love, impulse, & the monsters inside us. 🐅
