Pickpick

Bk3 of May is done! This months pick for the #AgathaChristieClubR2 it was a welcome trip back to the world of Dame Agatha. With an American heiress,jewel thieves,a reserved Englishwoman & Hercule Poirot swanning around in a beautiful train on the way to the Riviera, what could possibly go wrong? Plenty of course. Loved it. #ReadingEurope2020 #France #MysteryBookBingo #CozyMystery #MayBookBingo #BeginsWithM #PageAThon #267pgs #StartOnYourShelfAThon

Pickpick

This isn't my favorite Christie, but her sense of place is brilliant. This time, I remembered the murderer's identity, and in some ways consequently enjoyed this one more, watching how cleverly Christie arranges everything - the clues are there for the reader to find!! Even somewhat meh Christies are still worth a read, I think, so this one still gets a pick from me!

TheAromaofBooks Challenge fulfillments:

#WinterBookBingo - love triangle @Honeybeegirl || #JanuaryBookBingo - being adapted in 2020 (this one actually may be a fun movie??) || #MysteryBookBingo - closed setting (Christie's specialty, and it's done quite well here)

Watching You | Lisa Jewell

Pickpick

Although this wasn't on my #weeklyforecast, it turns out that it is due at the library so it got moved up the priority list!! I have been meaning to read a book by Lisa Jewel forever, yet somehow this is the first one I have picked up. Good pacing with perfectly-placed reveals. Loved the sense of everyone being watched or being a watcher. Loved that it was in 3rd person past tense!! Joey did get on my nerves a bit, but still a fun suspense. ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks Since I'm doing a billion challenges, every read seems to qualify for a bunch! 😆 #Jennyis30 - Suspense @jenniferw88 || #LitsyAtoZ - letter W @bookishmarginalia || #SeparatedbyaPondTour - Bristol @Andrew65 || #JanuaryBookBingo - Meant to Read in 2019 (it's been here since November! 😬) || #MysteryBookBingo - Character's Past Catches Up 4y
ljuliel You are so good at doing challenges and choosing books to fit so many categories. It‘d make my head spin to keep track. I‘m not that organized , I don‘t think 🤔 4y
Cupcake12 How can I join in with #LitsyAtoZ? 4y

veritysalter I just read my first Lisa Jewell this month (The Family Upstairs) and really enjoyed it. I‘ve not read a contemporary thriller for a while, I‘ll definitely try this one too. 4y
Andrew65 I love Lisa Jewell and don‘t think I have read one I haven‘t really enjoyed. @TheAromaofBooks @ljuliel 4y
ljuliel Thanks for the tag @Andrew65 I‘ve read a couple of hers that were great. The Girls in the Garden , and The House We Grew Up In were very good. The Third Wife was ok , but I liked the others more. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Cupcake12 - I tagged you in the original sign-up post for the challenge!! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @ljuliel - I actually love tracking my reading almost as much as actually reading, so it's fun for me. I have an entire journal that's nothing but challenges and other Litsy stuff!! So whenever I read a book, I just go through my notebook and see if the book I just finished fits any of my challenge criteria. I'm doing so many, and it's so early in the process that lots of books fit lots of challenges. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @veritysalter - the MC did annoy me from time to time as she was definitely in a cycle of “I'm a rubbish person because I do rubbish things/I may as well do rubbish things since I'm already a rubbish person“ that was somewhat frustrating to me. But overall it was a fun-paced little read and I'm definitely looking forward to checking out some more of Jewel's works. I feel like I've been seeing her books around the blogosphere forever! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Andrew65 @ljuliel - I have several of her older books on my TBR. Really enjoyed the pacing of this one AND it was so nice to have a contemporary suspense book in third person narrative! 4y
