I just watched this show on NBC recently. It‘s on Peacock to stream if you are paying for NBC‘s streaming service. If NBC airs this show again then I would recommend watching it. It was narrated by Tom Hanks and I really liked it. The burrowing owls were my favorite. They‘re so cute the way they tilt their heads to the side and the way they go under the ground into their hole and then pop out of the ground where their hole is.

I‘m still reading the tagged book but I found out about this webinar that was hosted on Zoom recently and I registered for it but I didn‘t get to watch it live. It‘s about the ocean and deep sea imaging. The webinar was posted on YouTube. I just watched it and I found it very interesting. If you‘re interested in watching it too, here‘s a link to it: https://www.youtube.com/live/6Xp_zikdUfQ?si=sqIFVRJ8v9VbUU5b

#Naturalitsy #HyggeHourReadathon

Spending my #HyggeHour tonight on the couch with Nancy Drew, herbal tea & my last pack of Cadbury Mini Eggs for the season.😢

As usual, the weekend was too short & another busy work week awaits. 😵😵‍💫

#Read2025 #MonthlyNonFiction

I‘m behind on reviews & discussion but I finished this for April‘s #Naturalitsy #BuddyRead I borrowed an ebook copy from the library & it‘s a quick & interesting book of essays about the Owens Valley & Mohave Desert in California. Written in 1903, it‘s wonderful nature writing & while my version may have suffered for lack of photos, the writing was descriptive enough to make me see it in my mind. While reading & ⬇️

DebinHawaii …stopping to Google more details, I found out/realized that From 1942 to 1945, during World War II, the first Japanese American Internment camp operated in the Owens valley at Manzanar. Maybe it‘s only interesting to me because I grew up reading & rereading the book tagged below but I like when I can tie books together. A enjoyable read overall, I would buy a print copy (hopefully with pictures) for my shelves. (edited) 7d

Here‘s how I did on my April #bookspinbingo list. I read the short stories I was supposed to read for #noplacelikeholmes, I read the Agatha Christie book I was supposed to read for #christiescapers. I read an ARC I signed up for from Chasing Books PR and I finally finished my #roll100 book that was picked back in February. I made progress in the #realmofelderlings buddy read and started reading the January book for the #naturalitsy buddy read.

🏜 Did you enjoy the author's style?
🏜 How did she describe the relationship between humans and landscapes?
🏜 Why did she suggest the desert breeds myths and fables?
🏜 What emotional responses does the desert evoke in the author, or you as a reader?

julieclair Didn‘t get to this one this month, but want to. Too many books… too little time… 7d
TheBookHippie I learned a lot from this read and I had the photography book of this- HUGE BOOK - so you could read and almost jump in the picture. I did read it in bits and I think that‘s the best way. Librarian said it was dry but I didn‘t feel that way. I found it informative. 4d
TheBookHippie lol look at the questions - I always found desert BORING and now I can see beauty- like I said having the massive pictures made you live in the photo and is brilliant way of understanding the author. Does the author like people? Maybe not. I don‘t think it matters. 🙃 could be me reading in it‘s been a bit much here in life. 4d
AllDebooks @julieclair I hear you x 4d
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie I bet the photos made a huge difference. I agree with your librarian. I read it in one sitting and got a little bored. Would be a better read by dipping in and out. I loved the botanical sections. 4d
TheBookHippie @AllDebooks Oh for sure the dipping in and out. Some of the photographs are just amazing my grandson and I read through it over 4 weeks I don‘t think it‘s meant to be a sit and read book. Then I agree it‘s a bit no thx 4d

I finished today, only 1 month behind the #NaturaLitsy crew!
I loved all the cool factoids about insects, and I might even be ready to eat one. It‘s a great reminder that when we destroy our environment we destroy systems that support us all.

🐌 Picture taken earlier this month on a hike. This viewing spot even had a built-in bookshelf, and I just so happened to have a book with me. 😅
