so-soMost depressing book I've ever read. An updated, globalized, thoroughly postmodern Catcher in the Rye. The way he wrote it made me forget that this book is set in Japan. Lots of references to Western pop culture. Nostalgia game is strong. pickThis was my first #Murakami novel, and I gradually fell in love with it -particularly with his straightforward, evocative and original writing style, his weird and perfect sense of humour, and his incredible talent in creating 'flawed', 'real', seemingly ordinary but actually very interesting characters. Reiko was my favourite, yet I was able to find something of myself in most of them. Cant wait to read more of his work!!! 💙 #norwegianwood

These two books made me fall in love with Murakami. As soon as I finished the Norwegian Wood I rushed to a bookshop to get Kafka on the Shore. Such good writing and plot!

pickMy 2 favourite Murakami books that I've read thus far. Sputnik Sweetheart is a magical realism book, a bittersweet tale of unrequited love & the different layers of what love & friendship mean to individual people in that relationship. It's also got fantastic musical metaphors. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
