My in-laws from Baltimore are asking: Where‘s the sauerkraut, hon? For proper pronunciation, you‘ll have to catch me in person. 😉

I‘ve had 49/73 items that are actually on the list. Here are some of my favorites.
1. Mashed potatoes
2. Roasted acorn squash
3. Glazed carrots
No thank you to giblets!

Here‘s the link if you want to take the survey: https://shorturl.at/RSOqi

dabbe Now I want to know how to properly say it! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing! 💛🤎🧡 1mo

1. Social gathering with the book club.
2. New handheld vacuum cleaner.
3. New bookcase configuration.
4. Orioles Pride Night jersey. This is especially gratifying because the opponent for the night was the one remaining MLB team that doesn‘t have their own Pride Night.
5. Local wine and pickled vegetables from the farmers market.

Yesterday was a day-long advanced screening of November, so I made apricot jam because it tastes like sunshine in a jar.

Recipe is from the tagged book. It's great in that it calls for old-fashioned dried apricots, rather than wildly expensive fresh ones.

Soubhiville Oh yum! Now I want some, lol. 1y

Current read - because the onslaught of cucumbers and summer squash is about to begin. 🥒🥒 🥒

Anyone have other picklin/fermenting/canning favorites?

Tamra I believe my surprising favorite is pickled curried cauliflower - I think it‘s from the New Ball Canning book. Yum! Tart & Spicy 1y
Aimeesue @Tamra Thanks! I‘ll have to look for a similar cauliflower recipe. Or borrow the book from the library - I have a Ball canning book, but not that one and it‘s not in the one I have! 1y

Tamra @Aimeesue when I get back from our trip I‘ll see if I can remember to let you know! 😊 1y
Blueberry I canned mushrooms, broth, and chocolate Cherry Jam this week. 1y
Aimeesue @Blueberry Mmmmmmmmm! Was that a vegetable broth, or do you use a pressure canner? Thinking of investing in one as I‘d like to be able to make giant batches of soup, beans, etc and can them. My mother just cans them in a water bath, but I‘d rather jump right to Making Sure My Food Is Safe spot, as I can forget what I have left in the pantry sometimes.😁 1y
Blueberry It was vegetable broth made from the mushroom boiling water. I pressure canned it. I have a Presto canner. I think it's a very good one at a not horrible price. 😄 1y
Aimeesue @Blueberry I am definitely putting a pressure canner on my holiday list this year! 1y

Loving this new book - there a whole section on small batch pickles which if fabulous if you don‘t need 17 jars of dilled cucumber relish!

julesG I think that just sold it to me. I hate having to scale down recipes to ingredient amounts that would require high tech to the nanogramm tuned laboratory scales. 1y
Mitch @julesG Agreed! Theres's a whole section here on really small batches - perfect! 1y

My daughter works at a farm & produce shop, and gets a discount, so guess what's on my agenda for today?
Not entirely sure that this is a money-saving enterprise, since I had to invest in a food mill today, but maybe it will pay off in the end? 😄

Tamra Yay, lucky you! I know for me canning isn‘t money saving, but I enjoy the process. It‘s one of those flow state activities. Enjoy! 🍅 2y
Texreader Look at those gorgeous tomatoes! Mmmmmm!! 2y
SamAnne It‘s not been a great canning year for me but I have cranberry- orange marmalade on the agenda for next week! 2y

Aimeesue @Tamra Ha! I *wish* I got into a flow state! This is on,y the second time I've canned stuff since watching my mother and grandmother do it when I was a kid. I got it done, and I certainly learned a lot today, so there's that! 😋 2y
Aimeesue @Texreader They were really nice. TOO nice. I kept eating bits and now I have a canker sore! That'll teach me to sample the wares. 😂 2y
Aimeesue @SamAnne Oh, that sounds great! Im a Massachusetts girl, and cranberries are my fave. I love Thanksgiving because it's the only time I make my favorite Nantucket cranberry pie. Mmmmmm 2y
Tamra @Aimeesue I‘m not all that experienced either. But it‘s fun! 2y
Aimeesue @Tamra It was fun! Also, it was kind of like what would probably happen if Lucy and Ethel ever tried to can tomatoes in some get rich quick scheme. I put the disc in the food mill upside down! 🤣 2y
Tamra @Aimeesue hahaha perfect image! I haven‘t processed fresh tomatoes so I wouldn‘t be any better. 2y
Texreader @Aimeesue That cranberry pie sounds delicious! Care to share a recipe? (edited) 2y
Aimeesue @Texreader Absolutely! And to keep it litty it's one adapted by Laurie Colwin, way back when, for Gourmet. I usus ally leave out the walnuts and sometimes add orange peel, but the almond extract is lovely. http://themailifiles.blogspot.com/2009/09/laurie-colwin-and-nantucket-cranberry.... 2y
Texreader @Aimeesue yay! Thank you! I‘m going to try it. And I love walnuts and just bought some so I‘m all in. 2y
Aimeesue @Texreader You are very welcome. Enjoy! 2y
Texreader @Aimeesue I literally just walked in from buying additional ingredients 2y
Texreader Can you tell me whether I need to boil the cranberries first? I have a bag of the dried cranberries. Thanks! 2y
Aimeesue @Texreader Oh no! You need fresh cranberries, like you get in the produce section! I guess you could try soaking and rehydrating the dried ones, but you'd need to cut back on the sugar in the sugar/cranberry mixture that goes on the bottom because they're already sweetened. 2y
Texreader @Aimeesue We don‘t get fresh cranberries here in south Texas. It‘s either canned or the dry kind in a bag. They are whole in the bag not dehydrated. Maybe that is fresh? 2y
Texreader I googled what fresh cranberries look like. I think what I have is fresh. We only get them once a year at thanksgiving. Thanks for helping me!! 2y
Aimeesue @Texreader Whew! I thought you meant Craisins! 😂 (edited) 2y
Texreader @Aimeesue 😂😉 2y

Strawberry sauce making day! I can‘t procrastinate any longer when I have a box of berries in the house. 🙃

Audio canning to The Woman They Could Not Silence. It‘s a long one!

SamAnne One of my bibles! 3y
Tamra @SamAnne 😊 Do you also like the newest one? I wouldn‘t do without either! 3y
SamAnne @Tamra how new? Mine is about 10 years old. 3y
