#BookMail to start my afternoon. I finally received my #owlcrate today, I've been eyeing this book but had a suspicion it was this months book, glad I held off buying it! Love the Lord of the Rings pin, especially because my son bought me the boxset for Xmas, & I got Hedwig in the mystery mini funko! The Game of Thrones coasters will be useful as well & the Narnia card is very cute. Very happy with my owlcrate this month.👍🏼🦉📦 #SmileItsBookmas

LeahBergen I LOVE that Narnia card! 😍 8y
Robothugs I keep struggling with wanting to try owlcrate but being unsure. 😩 8y
Lacythebookworm Hedwig❤❤🙌 8y

Robothugs Perhaps I'll try it out 😊 8y

The Princess Diarist | Carrie Fisher
post image

My last #bookhaul of the year I think (though there's still four days left!) A few non-fiction ones in this, I e been watching The Crown on Netflix & am a bit obsessed with the backstory of the Queen, and I've just bought the George Lucas biography so the Carrie Fisher one seemed appropriate.I've been eyeing that Atlas Obscura for awhile now. The hubby asked for a list of books I want so he can get it right, I gave him four pages!🤣#SmileItsBookmas

Jaimelire The Crown was soo good😀 8y
minkyb Only 4 pages? 😂 8y
Lizpixie @minkyb I took pity on him and gave him the condensed version! 8y
minkyb @Lizpixie I suppose it's a good idea to keep him focused!!!! 8y
Zelma That bio of Queen Elizabeth is really good. I listened to the audio and really enjoyed it. 👍 8y

The Portable Veblen: A Novel | Elizabeth Mckenzie

Today's #BookMail will probably be the last of this year, there's only two books outstanding on my orders and I don't think they'll get here before January. All up this month, I've brought 36 new books into my library😲I think next month I need to tone it down a bit, or one day I'll be found cold & stiff under a mountain of TBR! I'm too scared to count how many I have in my rainbow shelves. Think I need to start reading faster.🤓#SmileItsBookmas

Desha Yup I've got the same "problem" lol ? I always say I WILL die someday under my TBR pile...it only ever gets longer ?❤️????? But what a way to go!! ☺️??☺️?❤️ 8y
Lizpixie @Desha drowning in beautiful books is certainly an interesting way to go! The hubby always says they'll have to pry some book out of my cold dead hands when I go.💀 8y
SuperPunkNinja I have the same non-problem! 😉 8y
Desha Haha 😍❤️😍📚📚 8y

Today's #BookMail is three of the books I ordered from dymocks.com.au after my spectacular argument with the hubster on Saturday. The email said 7th January, instead I've gotten them in 3 business days! Oh AusPost, how you amuse me with your charming vagaries & inability to keep a schedule! At least this time, it worked in my favour. I'm keeping my #secretsantagoespostal present till nighttime so I can open it under Xmas lights! #SmileItsBookmas🎄

scripturient That is true willpower! 😃 8y
Hooked_on_books I'm impressed! I'm on the west coast of the US and still about an hour away from midnight and I want to tear into my Secret Santa gift now! 😂 8y
Robothugs I just got the book on the left from the Secret Santa! 😄 I had a person in the comments say it's awesome. 8y

Libby1 Broken Wheel is a fun book. Enjoy! 8y
Sue 3 business days????!!!?? I can't even get an express post envelope to it's destination in that time! Nice stack! 8y
Joanne1 Ahh gotta love Australia post!! Though if that's the outcome I'd be instigated more fights with the husband. 8y
Lizpixie @Sue @Joanne1 I know right? I picked up the parcel from my verandah and couldn't think what it might be, when I opened it I was stunned. I only ordered them Saturday afternoon! @Robothugs @Libby1 it's definitely a #blameitonlitsy purchase, I've seen rave reviews @scripturient @Hooked_on_books I really wanted that atmosphere of pretty lights when I opened it. It's not often I get a surprise gift anymore. 8y

And guess what else showed up today. All in separate parcels. I think the hubby is getting suspicious of how much exactly I'm spending on books. Whoops.🤣He really has no cause to complain when this year alone he's brought home two dirt bikes, a buggy & a quad bike.🏍Plus a bloody caravan! And I didn't say one word, so I get to buy books without any complaints, thank you very much. #SmileItsBookmas #guiltfreebookbuying

Laura317 That sounds reasonable. 8y
jessberk13 My boyfriend spends $25 a week on his bowling league (not including beer and food!) and about $400 on poker per year. I always take that into consideration when making my purchases!! 🤷🏻‍♀️ 8y
Lizpixie @Laura317 does to me too! @jessica I think that's totally reasonable👍 8y

My #bookhaul from this morning at Dymocks. The Fantastic Beasts book is for the daughter-in-law, Injustice is for the daughters boyfriend, the leather bound Battles of Tolkien & An Atlas of Tolkien are for the son, a mad Tolkien fan, & The Lies of Locke Lamora, The Wise Mans Fear & Prince Of Thorns are for moi! And the letter E & key are a leather string bookmark for myself too. My Xmas present to myself! #SmileItsBookmas

I swear bookdepository.com is trying to annoy my hubby deliberately. When your order comes one book at a time, it makes it look like a much bigger spend than it really is.🤦🏼‍♀️Today's #bookmail is another Dame Agatha & an Australian author, set in post war Sydney, a #blameitonlitsy purchase. Plus a beautiful bookmark. I'm really loving this set. #SmileItsBookmas🎄#christiescrimeclub

readinginthedark 😂I always feel like people send my packages that way! 8y
Dragon Love the cover of your Christie 💕 8y
Lizpixie @readinginthedark Right? I'd rather one slightly big box instead of six seperate packages on six different days! @Dragon I'm slowly collecting the whole set of this series. My daughter was given fifteen of them by an ex boyfriend & passed them on to me because she knows I'm a huge fan. Score! 8y

ChasingOm Not book related, but I didn't realize we now have a face palm emoji!! I've been wanting one for years, lol...and now I've gone down the 🐰hole of new emojis. 8y
GlitteryOtters I can't wait to hear what you think of Sparrows! It sounds so good, I have it on my not-yet-purchased TBR list & really want to read it. 8y

An Autobiography | Agatha Christie

Had an argument with the hubby, not something we do often but when we do it's always spectacular, so I went and comfort shopped at dymocks.com.au Won't get them till next year, but I feel a little bit better, so I'm happy. The fact he's buggered off out of the house could have something to do with it too.🤔#SmileItsBookmas

Texreader 😬 Yep hubby and I almost got into a row. I think it may be the stress of having done no family Christmas shopping and no decorations yet. 😣 8y
Lizpixie @Texreader yep, ours happened while out buying a real tree. Tree is now in pieces in front garden.🎄 8y
Texreader @Lizpixie Yikes! It does sound like shopping therapy was in order. 8y

minkyb @Lizpixie I cannot check like about the tree or the fight but I do like your method for making yourself feel better. Fa la la la la... 8y

Before the Feast | Sasa Stanisic
post image

Today's #BookMail is two #blameitonlitsy purchases. All the Rage is about a girl who's raped by the sherrifs son. No one wants to believe her until another girl goes missing. Before The Feast is about the evening before the feast in Furstenfelde, a mix of myth & mischief.I tried to get a hardback copy, that cover is gorgeous, but they only had the paperback. Also there's the new bookdepository.com bookmarks, designed by customers.#SmileItsBookmas

TrishB I read Before the Rage with my 15yo daughter, was depressing and sad, but thought provoking and a worthy read. 8y
Foxyfictionista I've been lusting over the Before the Feast book since I saw it in the book store a few weeks ago. That cover is foxy!!! (See what I did there?) 🤓 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag I'm glad book depository finally has new bookmarks! Very bored of my collection of 'we've changed the website' ones! I always get a thrill from seeing Ted. E Bear! 8y
See All 7 Comments
Lacythebookworm @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I'm glad I'm not the only one! I now have 3 website ones. They should have rolled out the holiday ones sooner. 8y
jessberk13 I picked All the Rage for my #LitsyReadingChallenge #sameageauthor and I'm really looking forward to it! 8y
Lizpixie @thegirlwiththelibrarybag same here! I've got about twelve of the blue ones, I hope I can get all the new ones before the end of the year. And Ted.E.Bear says Hi! 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Lizpixie, I recycled most of them - too boring! @Lacythebookworm, yes! All the holiday bookmarks! I don't even think the new website was bookmark worthy - like they changed the colour scheme... 8y

Today's #BookMail is this fascinating nonfiction book about the year between August1969 & August1970 when America was on the verge of revolution. The country was full of protests, anger at the Vietnam war, the My Lai massacre, and the death of students at the hands of the National Guard. It was also the year of Woodstock, of the Black Panthers & bombings across the country. Cannot wait to dive into this. #SmileItsBookmas🎄

Suet624 I read a book called 1968 many years ago. Each chapter was a month in the year. I'll never forget it. A detailed account of all that happened in that one year. A devastating year with assassinations and protests. 8y
