I really loved this book! Tavi‘s crew gets hired to catch a thief and recover what they stole. She gets hired by people they were at war with for 10 years but are currently at peace with.

They head across space to the enemy territory and her crew gets to know and become friendly with their “enemies”.

This is a sci-fi romance. It‘s a bit steamy and I loved it.

I read this for the #SwordandLaser Podcast

The language took a bit to get used to, but once I got into the flow of the book it was quite charming & enjoyable. A group of young women take on a job to protect a lady whilst she's in seclusion until her wedding day. Hijinks ensue & the ladies have to figure out who is behind the attacks.

The MC is a a fire witch and a disreputable lady with previous encounters with the law.

A solid 3 1/2 star read.

This is between a pick and a so-so. It was a little on the long side and everyone‘s journey seemed to drag a bit, but I felt like Moon had to go on such a journey to learn her purpose and so we could see different parts of the world. It was definitely an interesting read and now I have to go read the Hans Christian Anderson tale.

A very fitting read for the weather today.

You can‘t really tell by the picture, but we are having our first snow today. It was raining earlier, but it changed to snow about 2 hours ago. I don‘t think it‘s going to stick though.

This is the current pick for the #swordandlaser Podcast. Someone also recommended this book to me on Litsy, but I don‘t remember who!

Mehso-so

I read this for the #SwordandLaser Feb bookclub pick. I'm hesitant to admit I felt ambivalent about this book, as it is a much beloved classic. I think I might have enjoyed it more as a kid, but reading it as an adult the good vs evil theme is just too heavy handed to be enjoyable to me. However, I wasn't really in to 'portal fantasy' as a kid either. (Would you call this portal fantasy, as outlined by Mendlesohn, 2008? There's a debate.) (C)

Aliciaftw However, I want to say that despite my personal taste I do give the book it's due credit in the literary world, even if it wasn't my cup of tea. 7y
Aliciaftw I'll now be moving on to another #VaginalFantasy bookclub pick - The Mad Scientist's Daughter. #GloryToTheGuild 7y

I'm starting A Wrinkle in Time for the February #SwordandLaser bookclub pick. I've never read this classic and I'm pretty excited to go into it with 0 knowledge. (It's hard to remain 100% ignorant on classics.)

I decided to try this yesterday and ended up reading the entire thing. It was the June pick for #swordandlaser ... The best description is rural fantasy, set in East Tennessee Appalachia.

mdbstar12 Fascinating premise! 7y
Robothugs Oooh I loved this so much!! You should check out the rest of the Tufa series. 7y
ReadingEnvy @Robothugs I was going to see if there were more! Do they follow the same characters? 7y

Robothugs Yes they do! Each book focuses on a different one that was in the previous book. But the setting is the same. 😊 The last two I haven't read yet, but I know at least the second to last does the same. 7y
Robothugs Wisp Of A Thing, Long Black Curl, Chapel of Ease and Gather Her Round. 😊 There are a few others, but I don't know how much of the same characters they follow. Shall We Gather, Time Of the Season, The Two Weddings of Bronwyn Hyatt (clearly that one does). (edited) 7y
ReadingEnvy I read the two stories about Bronwyn and Chase in tor.com today, The Two Weddings and Shall We Gather. 7y
