Finished this audiobook earlier and it was so disappointing. The love triangle was so annoying and the majority of the plot revolves around it. This sequel felt so unnecessary and I lost count how many times this book made me roll my eyes. The ending is also a clichéd mess.

I absolutely adore The Crown's Game. If you like magic, Russia, royalty, a lovely romance subplot, and detailed historical references (this book is very well researched trust me) - I highly recommend it!

And its sequel is AMAZING TOO!!!

Which pretty much sums up my feelings on the book. Nice, easy writing and an intriguing idea. But the plot felt... I don't know.. a bit uninspired? And don't get me started on the magic aspect. I'm giving the sequel a chance because I liked the characters (and I own it).

I'd never read a book about Imperial Russia before, but this had me hooked! If you love historical fantasy and stories with magic, then I highly recommend The Crown's Game.
