pickReading this book is an experience. Getting to know the Afghanistan prior to 9/11 is such an awakening. The perspective the writer offered was beautifully done. Amir journey from Afghanistan to Pakistan to America and then back held much strife and emotion. But the childhood of Amir and Hassan is what drew me and kept me wanting more. #thekiterunner @khosseini
The Kite Runner is the 1st novel by Afghan-American author Khaled Hosseini. Published in 2003 by Riverhead Books, it tells the story of Amir, a young boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, whose closest friend is Hassan. story is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of Afghanistan's monarchy through the Soviet military intervention, exodus of refugees to Pakistan & the United States, & the rise of Taliban regime.

By far, the best book I read this year was The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I read A Thousand Splendid Suns last year for an English class and loved it. This one did not disappoint. I can‘t wait to read more by this author. The story is so beautiful. You really feel like you‘re right there experiencing everything with the characters. I couldn‘t put it down.

I think this is the closest I'm going to get as far as reading by the fireplace this winter since it's too warm for a real fire. Buffalo is having a very green winter this season... I want more snow.
