#Unwanted

So I picked this book for bookclub one month because I was really interested in the sections about H.H. Holmes.... turns out most of it was tediously long, #unwanted descriptions of the architecture that went into building the World‘s Fair... interesting at first but quickly became boringggggg lol give me more serial killer stuff please! 😂

@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @vkois88

knotmagick I felt the same way. Dead Wake was a lot better. 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I have this one, but haven‘t gotten to it!!! 6y

RamsFan1963 I was the exact opposite, I found the creation of the World's Faire endlessly fascinating, while the sordid serial killer story wasn't at all interesting. 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @RamsFan1963 once they got to the part where they finally opened the fair, I enjoyed it a LOT more... def did a deep dive on google looking up pics! 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @knotmagick I think it‘s very impressive how well researched his books are and he is clearly passionate about his subjects but I‘m not sure I have that passion within me to stick through allllll those details 😂 6y
Linear I have this book somewhere. But I never read it, it didnt seem my cup of tea. Maybe I should try it. But I dont handle overly done details... hmm 6y
vkois88 I am SO angry I read this book. I wanted more than I got about Holmes. I feel like it was advertised differently than it should have been... if I had known going into it what it was, it would have been fine 6y
cherinium I find it interesting that I have seen reviews going both ways. It seems that those interested in the architecture hate the serial killer chapters and the true crime nuts are bored to tears by the World Fair sections. I was one of the latter. Perhaps these 2 topics are a bit too disparate to work in one book. 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @Linear well- unless you are uber interested in architecture, I‘d say “overly done” is a good description lol 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @vkois88 yesss I agree!!!! Now I‘ve heard they are making a move (with Leo D. as Holmes!)- and I‘m better that will focus more on what we were looking for! Lol 6y
TheFunkyBookworm @cherinium interesting perspective- you might be right about that.... but then again i would have appreciated more of the architecture description in reference to HH Holmes‘s hotel- although maybe the true problem was that there just isn‘t a lot of information available! 6y
vkois88 Yes!!! 6y

There was a shocking #unwanted plot twist in this book, that has a pronounced effect on Jimmy Perez and the other books in the series. A wonderful series. #ANewChapter

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Sounds intriguing!! 6y
Andrew65 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks A great series if you haven‘t read them. 6y

These are just some of my books that I need to get around to reading, and even though it will take a while, they are not #unwanted! #anewchapter

AlaSkaat Ahhh, seeing books always makes me happy. There are times I just look at pictures of books-strange? But they are just so beautiful to look at. Makes you so calm and satisfied! 6y
OriginalCyn620 @OleAnder it‘s not strange at all! And I agree-books are beautiful to look at! 6y
Andrew65 Loved Norse Mythology, A Man Called Ove And Then She Was Gone. Enjoy. 👍 (edited) 6y

Pickpick

#Unwanted by her mother, the Sea Queen, Princess Lira was banished from the sirens' kingdom & turned into a human, a creature most despised by the sirens. Her paths crossed with Prince Elian's when he saved her at sea. Their fates sealed when they made a pact to bring down the heartless Sea Queen. Loved this YA retelling of The Little Mermaid recommended to me by @thewallflower0707 for my #newyearwhodis challenge! Full review on my blog! ⬇️⬇️

thewallflower0707 Happy you enjoyed it!! I just love how deliciously complicated both characters are and that they are not at all these bland shiny teenagers you usually find in YA. 6y
Jee_HookedOnBookz @thewallflower0707 yeah! I agree! And I loced those quippy dialogues!! Fun to read :) you can read my full review on my blog! 😊Thanks for recommending this to me, Svenja! ❤️❤️ 6y

It's snowing a little bit right now, but they are predicting at least 8 inches of snow where I live for later today and tonight. Even though Wisconsin is known for cold weather and snow, it is #unwanted by a lot of people here.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 🥶🥶 it would be #unwanted here also!!! (edited) 6y

#anewchapter #falling #unwanted

Two memoirs about being unwanted by Yen Mah. Both of these have been on my radar for years.

Sorry, Irving‘s Delight. You were exactly the short, innocuous story I needed to end the year. You came from my mom‘s bookcase, which is not insignificant. Nevertheless, I left you at the used bookstore last night along with half a shelf of cookbooks from the great pantry reorganization and a few other random items. Though you are #unwanted by me, I‘m sure you will make some other readers happy. #anewchapter

Picoult writes of the complexities of abortion, birth, and adoption. No matter how you weigh in on the matter, it still adds up to more than 800,000 unwanted unborn/year in US alone. #unwanted #anewchapter @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @vkois88

clairehaye Got this for Xmas and looking forward to reading it. Her books always make you think like Small great Things 📖 6y
Kimberlone I heard her talking about this book on Jonathan Van Ness‘s (from Queer Eye) podcast (Getting Curious). Haven‘t read a Picoult book since high school but am definitely intrigued by this one now! 6y
