Recommend to those with an interest.
I was in a bit of a slump the past few months, so it was nice to finally have a fuller reading month.Top read of October was the tagged nonfiction.

This book explores Palace Costume, a costume rental house that specializes in vintage clothes. The first part featured interviews with the founder and numerous costume designers. The interviews were very insightful and were a fun way to tell the history of the Palace Costume. The rest of the book showed pictures of the clothes.

bailedI bumped into this at my library and it looked like fun, so I gave it a try. In addition to what was coming across as faux humility, the author reads it and is a total snooze. Usually memoir is better when read by the author, but not in this case. I threw in the towel after 30 minutes.

pickThis book was originally published in 2001. It was updated and re-published with the new title in 2020 to include information about the reopening of Wood‘s death investigation in 2018. A complete biography is the best way to describe this book. Author, Suzanne Finstad, clearly spent years of her life researching and interviewing everyone associated with Wood. It is extremely detailed and thorough.

so-soThis was advertised as a story about a woman finding herself after her marriage to a Hollywood star ends but the bulk of the book is the tale of their fairytale courtship. By the time the marriage ends there only about 80 pages left. So her recovery from anger and grief, learning a new skill (which does help her process), and falling in love again all happens so quickly that I found myself rolling my eyes.
