Interesting addition to the original Handmaid's tale. It answers some questions but also leaves it open to interpretation as to what actually happened on the end. Not necessarily needed as The Handmaid's Tale was perfect on its own but it was still a good companion to it.

Been wanting to read this epic tale but still waiting to be in the right mood to fully enjoy the writing. And I‘m still looking through different translations to find the one that suit me. I don‘t want to rush but slowly enjoy every details of it .
Are you picky when it comes to translation too? Or just me?

Caroline2 Yes!! I read this awesome article in The Guardian about different translations of Russian novels. Fascinating!! Now I do my research and google the book and different versions to see what people say. 👍🏻 5mo
BooknerdsLife @Caroline2 Oh! I did not realise such article existed! It sounds like one that I‘d love to read about and learn more about how to pick the right translations! I‘ll need to google about it! 😆🙌🏼 Thank you so much for the info ❤️ 5mo

I adored The Warbride‘s Scrapbook and was sad to learn my library didn‘t carry this one. I lucked out and found a copy on eBay for $3! So excited when I realized it was set in my fave time period, the 1920s. I love everything about this book: the story told in scrapbook format, with detours at Vassar, the Mauretania and Paris. Worth reading and I‘m definitely glad I own it. 5⭐️ Highly recommended!

Very good. Love the powerful imagery used in all parts of this book especially the War parts as you feel immersed in the action. Also love the beautiful love story which lasts down the generations. Highly recommended as it stays with you for a long time.

#Vintage 1984 #BodiceRipper. An epic 568 page hate / love story. The brutal content made me wince and cringe at the same time. Not for the squeamish, as it‘s not a fluffy feel good romance. Monson was imaginative, twisted and gifted as a writer. For me, she somehow managed to partially redeem Sean — the most loathsome vile “hero” ever. Catherine is feisty and definitely works with the cards she‘s dealt. Definitely a harbinger of #darkromance

The wild mustang Lucifer & his lady Zebra are definitely the show stoppers of this #vintage #historicalromance that takes place in 1887 Utah Territory. The human love story is good but I rolled my eyes in a couple or three places. Janna & Ty‘s race to safety from the outlaws chasing them, with the help of these wonderful & brave horses at the end, is exhilarating & hair raising! Warning it‘s an old-school romance that‘s for sure.
