I love Murderbot! They‘re so snarky, sarcastic & adorable. I‘m 50/50 with the size of the books, on one hand the novella size makes them a great quick read between chunksters or heavy novels, on the other you‘re left wanting more. And there‘s only 4 of them😢 Highly recommended 5⭐️ My #Pop19 #BookWithATwoWordTitle #ReadingWomenChallenge #ANovella

gradcat I love your skull 💀... who‘d you have to kill for it? 😂😂 6y

I can‘t express how much I loved this story. It was sad and sweet with just enough tension. And the epilogue made me cry a little, in a really good way. Kotsi is sexy as hell, I want to *be* Fab, and the city was a charming character in itself. This novella might be my favorite Alyssa Cole book. (I have to finish reading all her stuff first, just to be sure, lol!)

Interesting way to explore grief, deep sadness and loneliness ... but this story left me totally unaffected. 🤷‍♀️ I can‘t explain why, because I do think that Mikage is cute character, that the prose is effective, and I like warm atmosphere throughout the story, but still - this story was not for me.

Simona @Cinfhen Thank you for organizing 😘 6y
alisiakae At least it counts for 2 challenges! I haven‘t decided on a novella yet for #readingwomen. 6y

emilyhaldi I agree, the MC felt very distant in this book. Interesting perspective on grief but hard to connect fully. 6y
Simona @4thhouseontheleft I participate in three challenges, so in this year my approach is slightly opportunistic🤗 6y
Simona @emilyhaldi I have read a few reviews (just to see if there's something in this story that I don t understand) and her writing/narration style is often compared with Murakami‘s. In Murakami‘s stories MC is (almost) always distant, observer of the life and I like them ... but in this story this distant position wasn‘t enough for connection. 6y

Women die out from a fungus disease, but come back in a sense as mushroom women. The main character, Nathan, is the story-teller of what's left of the men and he brings these mushroom women back to the group to bizarre and disturbing results. A post-apocalyptic, gender-bending horror tale. With mushrooms.

kgriffith With mushrooms. 😂 6y
imyril I‘m so curious now. Mushrooms! 6y
night_shift @kgriffith @imyril mushrooms! It's a very bizarre little story! 6y

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian Wow this sounds unique! 6y
night_shift @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian it is! The way it's written is pretty interesting too. It flows a lot like poetry almost. I got some good quotes from it. 6y

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @BookishTrish I think I'm going to resist the temptation to add to my TBR but thank you!! 6y
SconsinBookyBadger Stacking this book on my tbr. I‘m strangely curious about a tale of women changing into mushrooms. 🍄👩‍🦰 (edited) 6y
night_shift @AnansiGirl it's an interesting read! Only about 100 pages, too, so rather quick. 6y
