#SeasonsReadings2016 #DecemberWrapUp #dbf2016

Don't think I'll get another in this year. Here are my favorites from December. Read 5 non-fiction; 2 audiobooks; 4 ARCs; and 5 Books from the Decatur Book Festival (finishing up my list from that event just under the wire). 🎉

Megabooks Awesome choices! 8y
Reviewsbylola Can't wait to read Moonglow in 2017! 8y

Sweet remembrances from Middle and High School in the 1980's. Reads like a series of personal essays rather than a true memoir. Lovely and nostalgic but not a lot of meat to it. #DBF2016

Plotting out my TBR list for November and looking back at October. This is the month netgalley blew up for me! #notcomplaining #bookishproblems

For November: no new requests until I read the books on my shelf!

Also, working my way through my TBR list from this year's Decatur Book Festival 📚📚📚

Theresa 👏👏👏 I'm hoping to finish my #dbf2016 reads before #dbf2017!! 8y
Peaceful_Reader How did you make this cute Fall graphic? 8y
Well-ReadNeck @Theresa that was my goal this year and I still have one left from 2015 on my shelf 😝 @Peaceful_Reader I used the pic collage app. It's free and easy to use. Great way to make things square for the Litsy app 8y

Signed 1st edition book haul from the weekend. I already owned Mischling but when I saw a signed copy I had to buy it again. Problem?? @Well-ReadNeck I'm blaming you for Ron Rash. 😂 😜I had never heard of him before #dbf2016, but you talked so highly of his writing that I had to give him a try.

Well-ReadNeck @Theresa 😝 What a great stack!! 📚 8y
Cinfhen Excellent purchases 🙌🏻 8y
razmanda Ron Rash is one of my absolute fave authors! Welcome to his fan club! 8y

Last of the backlog from my BOTM stack.

autumnprivett Heard him talk at a book festival this weekend and it really piqued my interest in this book. I'll be eager to see what you think! 8y
Well-ReadNeck @autumnprivett did you post for #dbf2016? I thought I saw most of the posts. It was so much fun following along on Litsy and Twitter while I was there. Great weekend! 8y
MelodyJones Curious of your thoughts. Mixed reviews normally don't bother me but I'm hesitant to read this... 8y

So many #dbf2016 books to choose from. But, this is the one I'm reading first. In great part because the author did some great things with his reading (most panels don't have author readings at all, which I actually prefer) used voices for different characters; gave us a good chunk (7+ pages) of content; stopped at a moment we wanted to know what happens next and started at the beginning, so I feel like I've already started this one.

GinaAnderson Ooh, I have this one in my TBR pile. I'll have to move it up. 8y
Cinfhen Requested this one from the library today and only one hold on front of me 😊 thanks for the strong endorsement 8y
BethFishReads I have this on my list too 8y
BookishFeminist This is a good one! I enjoyed it a lot. Kind of southern gothic but definitely in a good way. 8y
Laalaleighh Ooh this was a book of them month book for me a few months ago! 8y

BOOK HAUL!!! Here's my book haul from the Decatur Book Festival. The fourth column are books I picked up, but the writers were not there. There are this many over again from DBF writers that I've either recently read, are waiting on my kindle, or I'm in line at the library. What a great weekend!! #dbf2016

HeatherJ Did you buy Georgia Peaches at the stage? Wonder if I sold it to you--that was the sales table I was working! What did you think of her panel? 8y
GlitteryOtters I am having SO much book envy right now! What an amazing haul! 😍 8y
Suzze Very nice! 8y
Cinfhen Sounds and looks like an amazing weekend 🙂thanks for sharing your haul📚 8y
BethFishReads Fantastic!!!!!! 8y
MrsV I'm so jealous! 8y
ReadingEnvy I am interested in Suburban Gospel for sure! 8y
Well-ReadNeck @HeatherJ No, I didn't buy it at the stage. That panel overlapped with Alexander Chee and Kaitlyn Greenidge. I didn't hit any of the YA because the timing of that stage was off kilter from the others and often ran into 2 other sessions. 😕 Who did you like from your vantage?! 8y
Theresa Beautiful!! 😄 8y
LeahBergen Awesome!! 👍🏼 8y
HeatherJ @Well-ReadNeck Jason Reynolds killed it; Adam Silvera and Terra Elan McVoy were fab as usual; and V. E. Schwab's book was a must-buy for me. Our whole lineup was lovely, with a kind and enthusiastic fan base. Overall a great stage! 8y
HotMessJess Omg, books hauls 🤑🤑🤑 8y
nikirtehsuxlol I really loved Drunkard's Walk! 8y

Decatur Book Festival haul. I was fortunate to see each of these authors either as panelists or participants in the audience for other authors' sessions. Such an amazing weekend! If any of y'all are ever in The Atlanta area for Labor Day weekend, skip DragonCon & go to the Decatur Book Festival. Okay, okay, you can do both. 😆😝📚📚 #dbf2016

LauraBeth Someone said it seemed to be lighter crowds at dbf compared to last year. Did you notice? I wasn't able to go this year but when I mentioned it was today to my hubby, he was like, "that was this weekend?! We didn't hear a peep about it at work and usually they are constantly emailing us in advance about it (He works at Emory). His comment combined with my friend's comment made me go ?. Hope they had a big turnout! Nice haul btw ? glad you went 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great Haul! 8y

Well-ReadNeck The big question is: what are you going to read first?!? @Theresa 8y
Theresa @LauraBeth This was my 1st year so I don't have a history for comparison, but I didn't think the crowds were bad at all. I arrived early so I could wander around & then once the sessions I wanted to see began, I was on a mission to get from 1 session to the next. I had 30 minutes between sessions & that was plenty of time to buy books, get them signed, & get to the next session. 8y
Theresa @Well-ReadNeck That is the million dollar question, isn't it. Foolishly, I committed to a TBR for September before the festival. Maybe I can still sneak 1-2 festival finds in this month. 😄 8y
BooksForEmpathy Wow so jealous!!! 8y
LauraBeth That's awesome @Theresa. Thanks for sharing your pics - looked like fun 8y

Our friends who live in Decatur end the book festival with a gathering so that all their bookish friends can talk about all of our new discoveries. This lovely little free library is in their yard. #dbf2016

Cspen113 I've thought about doing this in my neighborhood. I love the idea of sharing the gift of reading with people! 8y
Well-ReadNeck @OffTheBeatenShelf.com I love it, too. My friend teaches mandala workshops and retreats, so it suits them very well, too! 🏵 8y
Jennick2004 Several in my neighborhood! 8y
Theresa Was there any consensus as to a favorite? I think mine were the unexpected finds - the authors I wasn't familiar with before the festival but now want to read & tell everyone else to read as well. Gabrielle Lucille Fuentes, Idra Novey, Anne Corbitt, Brandon Wicks... 8y
Well-ReadNeck @Theresa There was a group of medical types who enjoyed the Adventures of a Female Medical Detective session. The Southern charm awards went to Ron Rash and Joshlyn Jackson. But, like you, people talked mostly about the discovered gems. 8y
