for me its the historian with 740 pages…but i loved the writing and the research that went into the writing was amazing so it didnt feel like it was a long read and it only took me 1 month to finish :) @BookmarkTavern #sundayfunday
Stumbled onto this gorgeous bookstore in Bucharest‘s Old Town today. It‘s located in a former nobility palace. What did I buy? After a tour of Transylvania, it had to be a copy of “Dracula” — of course!
37/100 This series of "Further Adventures" of Sherlock Holmes are very hit or miss. I deem this one a definite miss. While the author does a good job mimicking the writing style of Conan Doyle, the story is kind of flat and the ending is seriously anticlimactic. Other SH stories, like The Hounds of the Baskervilles, had supernatural elements, but they were all explained in logical, reality based solution. I was hoping it wouldn't really be the ⬇️
Did we need another book about Dracula that feels not too different from the original? I‘m not sure I did. It felt overly long, and dragged in parts for me. I did like that many of the characters were scholars and that a good deal of the story is them researching, delving into old tomes in search of historic scraps about Vlad that others may have missed.
Overall though, I can‘t say I gained much from reading this.
My Barnes & Noble mini haul. I've been wanting to read Dracula and picked up this edition because of the cool cover.
The first read od 2025 was very satisfying. Although the theme was not appealing to me at all, I enjoyed the dynamic plot and greatness of Van Helsing.
