Hello, #FictionalTraveler (s)! It‘s November and we‘re heading to #Asia ! What will everyone be reading?

Also - I‘m trying to decide whether to continue #FictionalTraveler for another year. Please comment below to let me know your thoughts. 🤔🤓🙂

This month, I‘ll be reading The Travelling Cat Chronicles.

thebacklistbook Of Jade and Dragons by Amber Chen will fit nicely.

as far as continuing, do what works for you best.

Read4life I‘ve enjoyed this challenge. I‘ve noticed I‘ve been choosing books to fit all of the challenges I‘m involved with instead of reading more spontaneously. I‘ll be cutting back in 2026 but haven‘t decided which challenges/Buddy reads I‘m going to stay with. #ReadOrDonate works well with #Roll100 so if they continue I‘ll participate in them. 2mo
Enchanted_Bibliophile I really enjoyed this challenge, but if my further studies are approved for next year I'll be cutting way down on all my reading. 2mo

TheAromaofBooks I've been using this challenge to pull a book from my shelves, but I haven't been super consistent in reading them!!! So I've enjoyed it, but between this, Read or Donate, and Monthly Nonfiction, this is the one I've been the least consistent with reading 😂 2mo
Lauredhel Asia... I might go looking for a manga! 2mo
Lauredhel I've enjoyed this and the nonfiction challenge as a nudge to look outside my default reading, but you do you, whatever works 2mo

Interesting and informative. Lots of fascinating details. I read this slowly over the course of several months, one State at a time. Now I know that the shapes of the States are not nearly as random as they seem!

Paddle-to-the-Sea | Holling C. Holling

“In the canoe, the Indian smiled. Once he paused in a stroke, and rested his blade. For that instant he looked like his own Paddle. There was a song in his heart. It crept to his lips, but only the water and the wind could hear.“

Caldecott Honor, Published 1941, The Paddle to the Sea by Holling C. Holling
A captivating tale following a carved wooden paddle‘s journey from a small lake in Canada through the Great Lakes to the sea. The paddle‘s colorful markings guide the story, linking diverse landscapes and cultures along the way. Educational, adventurous, and richly illustrated.

This story could be used to introduce geography and mapping skills. The class could discuss the journey from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean and then review it on a map. This could lead to other discussions about mapping skills.

in Finding Winnie, the paddle‘s colors guide the journey and emotions throughout the story. Each color shift reflects changes in mood and setting, helping readers connect visually to the adventure and the warmth of Winnie‘s story. They create a gentle rhythm that supports the narrative‘s flow.
