How It All Ends | Emma Hunsinger

This was a really wonderful upper middle grade or lower YA graphic novel about a 12-year-old who skips grade 8 and starts high school a year early. She's pretty lost until she meets Libby in English class, whom she sloooowly realizes she has a crush on. The great humour and the tenderly realized sister/sister relationship were my favourite parts. This book perfectly captures the agonizing ordeal of having a first (queer) crush in tweendom.

Slightly disjointed in parts, but otherwise a fun, empathetic high school cheerleading-squad graphic story inspired by King Lear.

3✨ Samantha is a high school cheerleader who got a bad score on her SAT. Desiring to go to college she thinks about what she can do to boost her college application. When she resides to run for class president everyone is surprised. As a character I was not a fan of her, but I feel like this was the authors intent to develop the character. There is not a lot of depth to the book, but I would say I enjoyed it. #SeriesLove @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

HS senior Ni Chen decides to offer college admissions essay writing, not so much for the $300 she earns each time, but to redeem herself as a person. Her mom abandoned her and her dad is emotionally inaccessible. Great YA novel in verse.

This was nice and entertaining, a quick kinda high-school memoir. It felt a bit empty for me but I‘m not sure what I expected- it delivered what was promised. Maybe bc she has other books I thought it coulda have been longer, like she coulda merged another one here or something? Saved me a few bucks 🤣
