#TheShadowMurders #JussiAdlerOlsen #BookSpinBingo

The Shadow Murders is the 9th book of the 10-book series. The book is a whole set-up for the last book to come. It was a dark and violent book with chapters switching back and forth between the good and bad guys. The story had multiple POV's. The cliffhanger at the end will lead into the last and final book of the series. I have read the other books of the series but this book is only 3 stars.

EadieB I do look forward to the last book and hopefully will enjoy that one more. If you love books about cold-cases then you would love this book. I would like to thank Penquin Group Dutton and NetGalley for a copy for an honest review. 2y
TheAromaofBooks Great progress!!! 2y
Andrew65 This isn‘t my favourite series. 2y

EadieB @Andrew65 I think there is something lost in the translation. 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB Quite possibly, they seem quite long winded, lacking in pace and tension. 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 I agree! 2y

The body of an elderly woman is discovered. More attacks seem random, but could they be related? Plot revolves around Danish welfare system & its abuses. The team are uncovering the dark and violent truth at the heart of Rose‘s childhood. I do love all the characters in this series but this was a slow read as the book is too long and needs editing. I did enjoy getting more information about Rose's past. Here's hoping the next one is edited better.

Tove_Reads I think this one is my least fave. The plot didn‘t really move me at all. In the next one we‘ll get to know more about Assad, and I hope it‘ll be interesting! 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads It will be interesting to learn more about Assad too! 4y

Andrew65 Similar issues by the look of it. This is my least favourite of the three series. Great review @EadieB @Tove_Reads 4y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 Indeed! If it wasn‘t for the three quirky and great main characters I would not read this series. 4y
EadieB @Tove_Reads The characters are the best thing about this series. @Andrew65 4y
gradcat Rose is hilarious! And I (and my mother) are precisely in concert with you guys about the characters...they make this series for sure...😂♥️ 4y
EadieB @gradcat Just need to be shorter and not repeat stuff so much. 4y

This cold case for Dept. Q is about a 17 yo girl, Alberte, who vanished years ago & was found dead hanging high in a tree on the Danish island of Bornholm. Det. Carl Morck & his assistants, Assad & Rose, discover a strange sun worshipping cult & a manipulator in Sweden & need to stop new murders while trying to find out who murdered Alberte. This is a true, dark historical story with twists & a surprise ending. Looking forward to the next book.

Andrew65 This is the series I‘ve got really behind on, only read the first Nice review. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 These characters do grow on you but books are still too long. 5y

Andrew65 @EadieB That is what is rather off putting! 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 The books just do not flow and take too long to read. The stories are good but could be told with shorter content. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Totally agree, more snappy dialogue to help the plot along would help with this. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Definitely snappy dialogue would help a lot. Must be a cultural thing with these Nordic writers. 5y
Crazeedi Sounds like a good one! 5y

Marco Jamison wanted to become a Danish citizen. His Uncle Zola forces him to beg and steal so Marco runs away. Carl decides to help Marco. This story was inspired by actual events. It‘s a story of honest people caught up by corruption of the times. Lots of twists keeps the pages turning! Book is a bit longer than needs to be but captivating otherwise! Looking forward to next book in the series.

1950 Denmark Nete Hermansen was sterilized by Dr. Curt Wad. Det. Carl Morck is presented with the case of women who went missing in the 80's. The novel brings to the forefront the forced sterilization of women in Denmark's recent history also the rise of a fascist political party. It is a top-notch thriller with lots of suspense from the beginning until the very end. I‘m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Highly recommended!

Copenhagen Department Q has another cold case to solve - brutal double murder of a brother and sister 20 years ago. They find out that Kimmie, a homeless woman, holds the key but they need to track her down. Violent characters who hide behind their money are suspects. A bit long-winded but suspenseful and an insightful look at ruthless people. Can be read as standalone. Looking forward to next book & recommended to those who love Nordic thrillers.

Copenhagen's PD created a new department called Q in the basement of their building. Carl Morck, a flawed policeman and Assad, immigrant, menial work but intelligence very helpful to Carl. one cold case for Carl. It is a liberal woman politician who has been missing for 5 years. interesting plot but slow moving. very wordy needs better dialogue. Carl and Assad unique. switched to the audio version. I will continue series. recommend 3.5 stars

gradcat I hope the series gets better for you! Good review! ♥️♥️♥️ 5y
EadieB @gradcat Thanks! I think I‘ll stick to the audio versions. They seem to work better for me. 5y

Chrissyreadit OMG!!! That‘s no joke! My birthdays in August! But I may stalk you until then! You should do some swaps!!!! What is your latest true crime recommendation? 5y
EadieB @Chrissyreadit So, when you find a book that you want, I‘ll check and see if they have it and have it sent to you. I just got this for $1.00 at my library sale: (edited) 5y
Chrissyreadit Wow! That sounds good- and also terrifying as we are exploring colleges... 5y
EadieB @Chrissyreadit My daughter went to Penn State and was on campus when there was a shooter one day. That was scary! 5y
Chrissyreadit OMG!! Did she like Penn State though? 5y
EadieB @Chrissyreadit She did her first two years at Allentown College which is very close to our house. Then she said we wanted to transfer to Penn State main campus. She had roommate problems and wished she was closer to home. The smaller college suited her needs better. 5y
Crazeedi @EadieB thank you sooooo much! My son in laws cabin is 20 minutes from main campus!! 5y
EadieB @Crazeedi Nice area near State College! 5y
