Mehso-so

For the most part, this book was compelling, and at times a tad heart pounding for me (I‘m #TeamSqueamish , so I scare/thrill easily). But, by the end I felt very underwhelmed. It left me feeling meh. Still, this was a terrific distraction from a fast paced week. A little late for the January prompt, but I had this slayed for my #1WordTitle for #ReadWithMrBook .

Cathythoughts I did give it a pick .... but in hindsight I‘m inclined to agree & say “so-so” 5y
Librarybelle @Cathythoughts For me, it started out slow, then became very exciting, only to sizzle at the end. I did have pick in mind until the last 50 pages or so. 5y

Loved this! The short story format is a great intro to Heyer‘s Regency, if you have never picked any up. My favorite was “Bath Miss.” 😊 (The book is actually Pistols for Two with 3 new stories)
Posting a few days late 😬 for #readwithmrbook #1wordtitle

LeahBergen I didn‘t buy this because I have Pistols for Two (but then I keep thinking of those 3 extra stories 😆). 5y
MrBook 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥳 5y
mabell @LeahBergen Maybe it‘s because they were first, but I think the Pistols for Two stories were the best, so you‘re ok! 😄 5y

Copenhagen Department Q has another cold case to solve - brutal double murder of a brother and sister 20 years ago. They find out that Kimmie, a homeless woman, holds the key but they need to track her down. Violent characters who hide behind their money are suspects. A bit long-winded but suspenseful and an insightful look at ruthless people. Can be read as standalone. Looking forward to next book & recommended to those who love Nordic thrillers.

This is my first book by Jenkins and I liked it. The romance was alright. I never had the feelings I usually get when I read a romance, nor did I cry happy tears as I often do at the end. I think there wasn‘t enough concern over their eventual happiness, which makes no sense due to the time period and situation. What I absolutely loved was the historical information that Jenkins worked into the story and the feeling of community that Eddy finds ⬇️

Bookzombie in the town. Also, I love how strong and independent Eddy is throughout. I think this could have benefited by being slightly longer. Everything is a little rushed at the end. Even so, I will read more from Jenkins. #ReadWithMrBook #1WordTitle

Finished January 26.

Reggie I kinda need the cry of happy tears in a romance. 5y
raeintheworld Ooo, this is my book club pick this month! Getting started over the weekend. 5y
Bookzombie @Reggie I understand. 🙂 5y

Julia cannot resist the pull of Greywethers, a country house full of history, secrets, and perhaps, a ghost, and as she figures out the story it has to tell, her life changes in ways she never could have expected. Kearsley‘s telling of all that happens in Julia‘s experience is superb, and I just loved it. This definitely won‘t be the last I read of this author.
