“California, here we come!“ 🤩
I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection (although I‘ve missed like three days so far!). No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!) Feel free to join in!

Old Hollywood autobiographies are the best!
I will forever reread these, especially Marilyn Monroe and Lucy Ball
Lucille Ball‘s memoir, which was discovered in her papers after her death. I recommend the audio, which is narrated by her daughter, Luci Arnaz. Mostly because Luci really does a bang-up impression of her father Desi Arnaz. 😀 I paired this with season 3 of “The Plot Thickens“ podcast, which did a 10-part series on the lives of Lucy and Desi. I recommend both of these together for a full picture.

Prompt: “I‘m Loud or Boisterous”
This was very enjoyable. I audiobooked this and it‘s read by Lucy‘s daughter who nails the accents of her parents perfectly. The book recounts Lucille‘s family life and her early career, the tumultuous times trying to build her family and life with Desi, then life at DesiLu empire with a young family, and her life after that. A story of a life lived with ambition, passion and a desire for love and happiness. ❤️
I‘m listening to this one on Audible, and it is just lovely. Her children found the manuscript along with hours of tape-recorded interviews and notes in a box after she died. It is read by her daughter Lucy, and she does a wonderful job.
21 #50 I listened to the audiobook and the narrator is amazing. I honestly forgot sometimes that it wasn‘t Desi speaking. I liked that it was conversational and that Desi was very respectful to everyone involved. However, I think it was more about making himself look good than sharing the truth. But his confidence/arrogance was really him so it worked. The book was written in 1974 and there was no political correctness. So refreshing! 😂
