It took a long time to explain the fragility and intricacy because no word exists alone, and the reason for choosing each word had to be explained with a story about why it must be said this certain way. That was the responsibility that went with being human, old Koosh said, the story behind each word must be told so there could be no mistake in the meaning of what had been said; and this demanded great patience and love.

Today I finished this book of poems which I‘ve been reading a bit at a time for 7 months.
Some of them I loved. Some I didn‘t connect with.
It is clear, however, she was our Poet Laureate for a reason! She can use words to paint a picture of what‘s happening in the heart.

9 April - waiting
This is where I am at this month. Not much reading is happening, but I couldn't tell you what is taking up the time instead. I finished The Odyssey. I got The Story of Art Without Men back from the library. I've been slowly making my way through The House in Paris and (not pictured) Apartment in Athens. Whereas is waaaaay out of my comfort zone and I'm not getting much out of it, but I'll keep reading in hopes that a poem will click.
pickCompelling, heartbreaking, and very impactful. I did not see that end coming! Betrayal, double crossing, and deep rooted mistrust. Such a fantastic book. Book #97 in 2024
pickStunning and transformative. These pieces brought the oldest myths and traditions into the world we live in now, and merged the two like a double exposed photograph. It showed beauty in places we typically don‘t see it, and exposed an authenticity to certain rituals in ways I‘d never fully understood before.

So, I read this a few weeks ago and have really already forgot most of what happened(not to be mean)but that‘s the truth. I remember liking the story but it was really slow and just not so much for me….loved my picture though❤️🤷🏼♀️
