Happy birthday Jim Henson, on what would‘ve been your 86th birthday! Thank you for making this world a better place!

Quote from the beginning of this book:

“When I was young, my ambition was to be one of the people who makes a difference in this world. My hope still is to leave this world a little better for my being here.“ - Jim Henson

More love for this wonderful book. It was challenged in 2015 for containing images of poverty & for downplaying American Exceptionalism.

Boots says, “Hiss!!!” to book bans!

LibrarianRyan I agree. 2y

Challenged by a Wisconsin school board member in 2015 for 1) Containing images of poverty 2) Downplaying American Exceptionalism.

Shameless self-promotion: We will be discussing this book on my podcast Muppet Profiles. 😊

LibrarianRyan 😨 😪 😡Seriously. Someone tried to ban the muppets for showing poverty. 🙄 2y
Kerrbearlib @LibrarianRyan Yup. So ridiculous. 🙄 2y

A few of my #blue covers. The tagged book is by a friend of my sister‘s, who interviewed me for the book and included me in it, albeit under a changed name. #readingResolutions @Jess7

Chrissyreadit That is exciting! I agree friendships today seem to be more difficult to come by. I was never so lonely as when my kids were infants and toddlers. 7y
Lcsmcat @Chrissyreadit I was lucky to find a great mom‘s group when my kids were that little and we raised our kids together like cousins. For me I was the years after college but before kids that were the hardest. 7y

sprainedbrain @geodynamical Is this an essay question? 😂 8y
Suzze Seems like it was understanding others feelings. That was a long time ago. 8y

This quote is before the 13th chapter titled Expressing Appreciation in Nonviolent Communication. I'm reading the 2nd edition, so this is the last chapter.

geodynamical_nonfiction @amybeth This book came to me highly praised when I told the universe I wanted to "unschool" my future children. This book was recommended to me to help me communicate with my husband, my coworkers, my bosses, my students, my family... And everyone. It's amazing heartspeak. Hope you take a closer look. :) 8y
amybeth @geodynamical I'm looking forward to checking it out, I'm a philosophy major in religious studies and the idea of nonviolence is always a topic, which I find to be a most stimulating problem to find more ways to communicate and create proper dialogue between religions and between your own loved ones or people on the street. I appreciate your recommendation. :) 8y
