⭐️⭐️💫 There is some good information here and I‘m sure it would benefit me to learn and use it. I found the presentation really smug, though. The author seemed to only use examples where he got it right and others got it wrong. If I understood correctly, he thinks that any compliment or appreciation that doesn‘t follow his format is judgmental and manipulative. I‘m sure he‘d say this is my unmet needs talking, but it bothered me.

This book gives me something to reflect on and provides goods points as to our communication and the way we view others and ourself. My big take from this book is trying not being judgmental to others and myself!!
l always have mixed feeling about manual books, like this one(my own definition)because they can sometimes put me to sleep but sometimes also provide useful and positive advice. That said, I do find this book worth reading!!😛😛

JamieArc I‘m a big fan of non-violent communication and have high regard for this book/author. Glad to see it here 😊 3y

This book was practical and would help anyone trying to resolve conflicts in their lives. It‘s great for recognizing your feelings and needs, but to be empathetic to others feelings and needs. I also like the mindset part of changing “I have to” to “I choose to”. I think that was powerful. This book also makes you stop and think how you react to conflicts in your life and how you can improve relationships by being more self aware. Take a moment.

Current audiobook. Been thinking a lot about how I react to people and my inability to express certain things, so this comes at the perfect time.

[DELETED] 3803335244 My kids & I have taken a class on this through a fellow homeschool teacher. We all loved it! Definitely a wonderful way to live life. 7y
SkeletonKey @ForeverNerdy - That‘s great!! I‘m liking it so far and hoping it has a lasting effect. 7y
Louise One has to be careful with these systems, though. I know people who pride themselves on their "non-violent communication" and are among the most passive-aggressive people I've ever encountered! So much depends upon the spirit in which one engages with others! ? 7y

Goodreads/Amazon Team: "Can we parse our database and segment out those who are violent and need anger management when they communicate? We'll target them with this book..."

??? Meanwhile - let me take another personality test that identifies me as "the peacemaker".

CouronneDhiver I wish I were more of a peacemaker... lol 8y

This book is a life-changer!!! I'm so happy and grateful now that I attract and experience authentic communication! I cannot unlearn what I've learned, and I will carry this thinking with me for the rest of my life! It has helped me embrace difficult conversations and shamelessly express my needs. All my relationships have improved. #nvc #emotionalintelligence #empathy #healthyrelationships #communication #emotionalIQ #nonviolence #peace #feelings

This quote is before the 13th chapter titled Expressing Appreciation in Nonviolent Communication. I'm reading the 2nd edition, so this is the last chapter.

geodynamical_nonfiction @amybeth This book came to me highly praised when I told the universe I wanted to "unschool" my future children. This book was recommended to me to help me communicate with my husband, my coworkers, my bosses, my students, my family... And everyone. It's amazing heartspeak. Hope you take a closer look. :) 8y
amybeth @geodynamical I'm looking forward to checking it out, I'm a philosophy major in religious studies and the idea of nonviolence is always a topic, which I find to be a most stimulating problem to find more ways to communicate and create proper dialogue between religions and between your own loved ones or people on the street. I appreciate your recommendation. :) 8y

"The more people hear blame and judgement, the more defensive and aggressive they become and the less they will care about our needs in the future."

I'm in the chapter Expressing Anger Fully. So many good-intentioned people need to read this.
