I liked the psychological side of the book more than the whodunnit part but overall it was a very engaging thriller, perfect to keep my mind off the incoming US election results (that map coloring red, can‘t be true 😱) as well as the further lockdown in my own country.

MicheleinPhilly Did you read this in the grocery store? 😂 3y
Jas16 I love this picture 3y
BarbaraBB @MicheleinPhilly It‘s a change of scenery 🤪 the only place I come these days beside my home. My pictures become as boring as my life 🤦🏻‍♀️ 3y

MicheleinPhilly I hear that! Mine are dog park, grocery store, pharmacy, bottle shop. 3y
BarbaraBB @MicheleinPhilly Bottle shop 🍷🍷. I hear that 😀 3y
Megabooks I love seeing what‘s in foreign grocery stores/markets! This is cool. Is that cookies on the right? Food is a really interesting part of 90 Day Fiancé for me. (edited) 3y
LeahBergen @Megabooks I buy cookies to sample wherever I travel. 😆 3y
BarbaraBB @Megabooks @LeahBergen They are cookies indeed but you would laugh so hard when coming into a grocery here. They are tiny compared to yours! Also I only buy the basics there, for vegetables, meat, fish, wine etc I go to the market or small local shops. And what is 90 Day Fiancé, Meg? 3y
Megabooks The K1 visa is the fiancé visa in America and you have 90 days to marry the person who sponsored you. So there is a show on tv following couples who do that. It has expanded to four shows now. The original, one where people move to other countries on fiancé visa, one where they first meet before the visa, and another following the couples after they get married in America. Some couple are on multiple shows and seasons some are just on one ⬇️ 3y
Megabooks Season of a single show. There was a male fitness model from Amsterdam on two seasons of the “will they get engaged?” Show. They didn‘t get engaged. (edited) 3y
Megabooks Oh, and dad agrees with you about the junkies and hippies. Apparently he was robbed in Amsterdam 😬 I think this was 74. 3y
BarbaraBB @Megabooks That seems an addictive concept, I can totally imagine that series. My guilty pleasure is Masterchef, with Australia as my favorite. 3y
BarbaraBB @Megabooks Ooh, your dad! I feel ashamed for his memories! But it is a different city since all homeless and addicted people have spaces to stay during the day and to recieve clean needles or methadon. So robbery and violence have hugely decreased. 3y
Megabooks Oh I‘m glad you have a positive policy dealing with homelessness and addiction...unlike here... ☹️ This is the couple from the first season when they were in Amsterdam. Jesse was 24 and Darcey was 42. https://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/2017/09/90-day-fiance-are-darcey-silva-and-je... (edited) 3y
BarbaraBB @Megabooks Nice! I‘m gonna watch it! 3y
Librarybelle You may think the photo is boring, but I love the colors in the store, and they work perfectly with the book‘s cover! 3y
readordierachel Is that the tea aisle? ☕ 3y
BarbaraBB @readordierachel To the left is tea indeed! 3y

erzascarletbookgasm Fantastic progress! 👏 Too bad the library doesn‘t have Ali and Nino. I can‘t find books for Montenegro either. 4y
Hooked_on_books I just finished this one for Montenegro. I thought it was good. 4y
Hooked_on_books I‘m reading this one for Azerbaijan. I haven‘t decided what I think just yet. The writing is good but I wonder if the plot is a little pointless. 4y
Cinfhen Thanks for the recs @Hooked_on_books you might want to know as well @BarbaraBB 4y
Cinfhen Both books sound good @Hooked_on_books going to see if any of my online resources have them 😄 4y

Maddie meets Ian in Skopje and they eventually marry years later. When the book opens, we know a violent crime has occurred somehow involving them, but it isn‘t clear what has happened until near the end. Much of this book isn‘t thrillery, but I thought it was good, exploring the building of their relationship. And eventually, it goes to a very dark place. I would definitely read Ward again.

BarbaraBB Thanks! Now I have my book for North Macedonia! 4y
Hooked_on_books @BarbaraBB You‘re welcome! They are not easy to find. I had to do some googling to find this one and it worked out well! 4y
Librarybelle Great sleuthing for North Macedonia! 4y

jenniferw88 I used @suzie.reads 's book for Montenegro too! 4y
jenniferw88 I think my book for North Macedonia is a #chunkster & fantasy, so you'll probably want something different, but here it is just in case: 4y
Cinfhen Thanks so much @suzie.reads @jenniferw88 I will look for them 💕and thanks for tagging @BarbaraBB 4y

Thanks for this recommendation @RachelO - a really interesting perspective on the refugee experience for #refugeeweek.

I agree with you though, Nujeen did come across very immature for her age and, dare I say it, a little self-absorbed. However, I guess that‘s a product of her upbringing and the way she was treated by her family and society. It was still an amazing journey that they undertook.⬇️

#readwithmrbook #aboutdisability

squirrelbrain I‘m also going to be a little bit naughty and use this for #northmacedonia for #readingeurope2020. They did cross the country but, as Nasreen herself said, it only took them 2 hours in real life so it‘s only a tiny part of the book but they still went! My only other option for this country is a huuuge intense chunkster so.... 😁 @BarbaraBB @Librarybelle 4y
rockpools That was quick! And yay for crossing off North Macedonia. What‘s the chunkster, so I can stack it 😉? And yes, she‘d definitely grown up very protected - I felt quite stressed for her sister at times. 4y
squirrelbrain Ha! You‘d love the chunkster - it‘s got very small writing too! I‘d have been interested to see a bit more of her sisters POV actually. And yes, it was a bit quick. I‘m getting a bit ‘skimmy‘ at the moment - it happens sometimes, particularly with NF and I‘ve read a lot of that recently.... need to calm down and enjoy! 4y

rockpools @squirrelbrain Small print - my favourite! A definite must-read 🤪. I sympathise with the speed-reading, in a totally opposite kind of way - I just start everything very slowly and finish nothing 🙄. 4y
BarbaraBB Well done!! 4y
Librarybelle Works for me! 4y

This was such a raw memoir by Kapka Kassabova. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it a really interesting read. Socialism with a human face was so difficult for many and it amazes me how people got through it.
#ReadingEurope2020 #Bulgaria #NorthMacedonia 🇧🇬🇲🇰 (18th & 19th countries)
3 books finished today, great day for reading 😊

squirrelbrain Sounds great, although I read this one by the same author and found it hard to get into. I‘ll stack this one anyway as my North Macedonia book is a huuuge chunkster! 4y
suzie.reads @squirrelbrain it is mainly in Bulgaria but her grandfather is from Macedonia and she visits alot and no other book for North Macedonia intrigued me enough lol 4y
