Bk13 of #Scarathlon & Bk1 of #20in4 & #FinalStretchathon is done! A chunkster of a book, wasn‘t sure if I‘d finish it! Strike & Robin take a 40yr old cold case of missing doctor Margot Bamborough, last seen in 1974. #31x31 #Falling4Fall #Rushathon #Spookaween #AfterDarkBingo #BodyCountBingo #ISpyBingi #PromptMaze #NaturalitsyBingo #BookspinBingo #OctoberRC #BookishFirst #ThrillerBooksBingo #OctoberReadingBingo👇#SpookyGhostClub 6391pts
Starting my #20in4 #readathon a bit late again! I‘m going on PDT for this one. My goals are:
📚Read 3 books
⏱️Get at least 20hrs
🎃Finish #Scarathlon with a bang!🎉
Let‘s finish this strong my fellow #SpookyGhostClub @Clwojick @Traci1 @AmandaBlaze @TheSpineView @TheAromaofBooks @Larkken @Alora @DebinHawaii @Addison_Reads @Morr_Books @Sarahreadstoomuch
Currently reading this as Bk13 for #Scarathlon because I wanna watch the new season of Strike but needed a refresher of the plot. And am rethinking this strategy as it‘s a total chunkster & I have a few books I wanted to get done before the months up! Maybe I‘ll read other books around this till times up on October🤔 #SpookyGhostClub 1pt
Just finished 32 hours of JK Rowling. It was definitely a mystery to me and I did enjoy it. I have another library hold for the next book in the series that‘s about to come in but I canceled it. I need a break. Maybe next year.
Excellent! I love this series and this was possibly the best yet! It is so much more than a murder mystery or whodunnit .... it made laugh out loud and even managed to make me feel quite tearful at certain moments. There is definitely a complicated underlying discussion on feminism and the way it impacts all relationships- it is subtly sewn into the characters and plot. There is just so much to enjoy and digest her- loved it 🧡👍
Happy Saturday! Coffee and a book (a good book) while Lily has a riding lesson .... best time of the week 💞🐎☕️🍫📚
I wish there were 10 more Strike novels. I can‘t put them down. This one seems like it will be too long but it‘s not, it‘s fantastic.
Bk7 of September & Bk1 of #SuperSeptember #readathon is done! I can‘t believe I finished 944pg in 3 days.Go me🙌I really enjoyed this, I have to say, it‘s my favourite Strike book so far.The killers identity came completely out of left field honestly, I had no clue! Loved the cold case, the cop going off his tree & seeing the occult in the case, helped the killer out tremendously he did. 4.5⭐️ #SeriesRead2022 #ChunksterChallenge2022 #BookspinBingo
I managed 3 1/2hrs since midnight of this #chunksterchallenge2022 book for the #SuperSeptember #readathon before crashing with a book on my face on the library chair! Am planning on relocating to bed for a few hrs before resuming said book, hopefully finishing it by tomorrow morning. Or is that too optimistic? Night everyone!👋😴
On page 529 of this behemoth already, I‘m loving it so far. Was up till 4.30am last night, tonight looks like another all nighter, I can‘t put it down! Hubs is crook with the flu so I‘ll be able to(hopefully🤞)sleep in tomorrow, starting to get massive black circles under my eyes. Who needs sleep when they have a great book instead? #nosleeptillbookless
Starting on this doorstop of a book next. Guess I‘d better get it read now I have the next book in the series already. It‘s only been sitting on my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom for two years! 5 chapters in and it‘s captured my attention so that‘s good. Let‘s see how long it takes me to finish its 927pgs!
I really love this series. It‘s gritty and page-turning and always has lots of twists I don‘t see coming. This isn‘t my favorite installment, and it did seem longer than it needed to be overall, but it was still enjoyable and surprising. And I LOVE the narrator! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Strike and Robin are contacted by a woman that want them to look into her mother‘s death/ disappearance 40 yrs prior. So the private detectives take on their first cold case.
Privately Strike‘s aunt has gotten cancer and Robin is still dealing with her divorce.
1st book for #AwesomeApril
@Andrew65
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Did this book need to be 927 pages? Probably not.
Did I love every single page & wish it were longer? Definitely yes.
The character development, settings, & mysteries in this series are so well crafted. Can‘t wait for the next.
“You‘re a Cornishman, born and bred,” said Dave Polworth irritability.

Thanks for the tag @Blackink_WhitePaper 😀
1. Tagged. At 944 pages, it was twice as long as it had to be.
2. Sometimes. I definitely have to be in the right mood. Sometimes I just want quick and intense over long and thorough.

Perfect carry on to the previous book but as always we are left with a mountain of questions at the end. I couldn‘t stop listening to it and managed to finish it in a week
I already have a tradition: the first book read in a year should be about #CormoranStrike ! The novel is very big, but it was easy for me to read it, perhaps because I really like the main characters! And the detective story is also good! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Despite being very lengthy and a bit confusing with numerous characters and a complicated storyline, I do think this series just keeps getting better and better. Love the evolving relationship between Cormoran and Robin. I really am hoping there is another book or two coming!
I was a little let down by the 4th book in the series, but I‘m immediately hooked on this one. It‘s a 32 hour audiobook! But I‘ll get a lot of listening time this weekend when I take a road trip to Pennsylvania for my cousin‘s 1st birthday party.
I really enjoyed this fifth mystery- it‘s slow and it‘s as much about Strike and Robin as it is about the 40 year old mystery they are investigating. I didn‘t guess the ending (although all the clues were there) and even though both detectives had a lot going on personally, the story never felt too much like a soap drama. A long but enjoyable read! #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks
I loved the character development of Robin and Strike In this novel. That was the best part of the story! The mystery was complex and daunting. But my did this need a good editor. 900+ pages as a bit much. It could easily have been cut by 100-200 pages and still have the same impact. As always, Robert Glenister did a phenomenal job narrating.
This is my second finish for #20in4

So many books to choose from for this prompt. This is the first book that came to mind and I love this series.
Cormoran and Robin take on a cold case, which the book blurb leads us to believe they‘ll be taken down a road of tarot, demonology, astrology etc. Though the case has some aspects of the occult, this story is more about the trials and tribulations of Cormoran and Robin, their feelings for each other, their families, personal loss, and where they stand in their relationship.
Troubled Blood is the best in the series and I cannot wait for book six.
A good reading month for sure. The new Cormoran Strike novel was just the right book to get lost in for a while.
There was a lot to unpack and this one and it‘s definitely my favorite of the series so far. I can‘t believe how long this book was, but I never lost interest the whole time. I found myself wanting to read it as much as possible. The cold case moved slowly but each new witness they interviewed added a fascinating layer. Both Cormoran and Robin worked through some major personal issues, giving us even more insight into their characters.
I love all 5 of these books!!! Can‘t get enough of Cormoran & Robin! The BBC also made a TV show out of these books, CB Strike!!!
#5 in the Cormoran Strike series
I love these books, I can‘t put them down when I‘m reading them. There was some controversy surrounding this one re: Rowling‘s opinions? of trans people but I don‘t get where this came from after reading this. Her comments when challenged were vague and that was weird but I‘m still kind of confused how it all came up in the first place.
Happy Long Weekend Littens!! I hope you have lots of reading time and great weather wherever you are ☀️🏖🏕🛀🏻📚📖
Started this last night. I have LOVED the Cormoran Strike series but there are issues with this one ( I‘m vague on them beyond JK Rowling holds opinions re:trans folks ? that are extremely problematic) I bought this ages before I knew any of this & I‘ve decided to read it finally to figure out what is what. Also my barista (husband) made me a café frappé this morning ?
I do love this couple Strike and Ella, and of course want them to get together. So you will have to read it to find out if it happens. They also solve a cold case of a missing doctor some 40 years ago, which may be connected to a serial killer. At over 900 pages couldn't really tell if it needed to be so long or not, but I liked it! #books
As I mentioned in an earlier post, that I would be reading the tagged book. So I am just over 200 pages and another 700 to go. I am enjoying it. I also started The Duke Undone as a fun and steamy when I take breaks from the big book.
These books have one thing in common, over 500 pages! Admittedly the Babylon Berlin and Once and Future Witches is just over 500 pages. Troubled Blood makes up for it at over 900 pages. A Little Life over 600 pages. I am looking for a new job hence I decided to tackle some big books!
This is the 5th book in the series. Cormoran Strike is asked to help find Margot Bamborough who went missing in 1974. He is visiting his family in Cornwall and most of the book is about introducing Strike's family members. This book is a bit long but does further the relationship of Strike and Robin. I'm looking forward to the next installment to see where their relationship is going next. Robin herself is also juggling a messy divorce.
"If I stand here, you'll give me your attention, right?"
Excited to welcome the weekend with the newest Cormoran Strike book! Also, apparently I requested the large print book from the library...this book is massive! 🤷
I have enjoyed all of the books in this series and this one has become my favorite. Strike and Robin investigate a 40-year-old cold case; the disappearance of a young, married, doctor, and mother of a young daughter. The victim's daughter hires Strike and Robin to find out what happened to her mother and gives them a timeframe of 1 year. Rowling tells the story with so much detail that I quickly felt immersed in the story and characters' lives.
In desperate need of editing. In no way did this story need 900+ pages to be told effectively.
Don't read your book, pay attention to me!
No, no, pay attention to ME!
#DogsofLitsy #CatsofLitsy
A bit of a task getting through some of this, but well worth it in the end. I felt more connected to Strike and Robin this time around, but some of the side plots (other cases) were yawners. Maybe that was why this one just felt a bit more realistic than some of the past books - life is just not so glamorous a lot of the time.
I love Strike and Robin. I really do. But this latest book is just WAY too long. EDIT!!!! I'm on page 320 (only a third of the way through this behemoth), and there's now 5 pages of "case notes" aka: "I know this book is too long and there are too many side cases, so I'm just going to recap everything we've learned so far about the main case." I don't mind a when the story needs it, but this one really could have been edited down.
@TheSpineView #Two4Tuesday
1. The tagged book ❤
2. Do vampires count? If we talk about mythology I'll say Medusa. I'm obsessed with her since I was just a child
Wanna play?? 😉
Not as many hours as I wanted, but I will never do 24. I like sleep to much. Happy Sunday to you all. #deweys #deweys24houreadathon
