#HaikuADay #HaikuHive

I‘m behind on haikus but posting today‘s inspired by my dinner of 2 tuna onigiri, called musubi at the place I picked them up from. I looked & found that both are a rice ball but onigiri is the general Japanese term & musubi is a Hawaiian adaptation. So, all onigiri can be called musubi, but not all musubi are onigiri. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Rice Ball Riddle

All onigiri
Can wear the name musubi,
But not the reverse.

An oddly specific ⬇️

DebinHawaii …niche haiku yes, but food & food naming interests me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ If you want more detail: “Both musubi and onigiri refer to a Japanese rice ball, but onigiri is the general Japanese term, while musubi is a Hawaiian adaptation often featuring a block of rice with a topping like grilled Spam, wrapped in nori seaweed. So, all onigiri can be called musubi, but not all musubi are onigiri, as a musubi is a specific style of onigiri” 4d
TheBookHippie Oh how fun. I adore the sticky rice my friend from Taiwan makes. I wonder now if it has a name! 4d
