Tartan | Jonathan Faiers

I own zero plaid and zero books with plaid on them. 😅 I went to Google for help with this #LittensDressedInBlood prompt and since I‘m a nerd, I searched for books on the history/story of plaid (or rather tartan). I was not disappointed! 😍
Definitely adding the tagged book to my TBR, it sounds absolutely fascinating!
(Several weaving books popped up that most likely will also find their way onto my TBR at some point. 😅🤓)

Scottish National Dress and Tartan | Stuart Reid

I think summer might be over in Michigan. So today I whipped out my Dress Stewart travel rug. I still have to find one for my clan. There are two branches of the Grahams, Menith and Montrose. I just want to make sure I have the correct one.

DeborahSmall I'm Scottish and the only name in my family remotely Scottish is my paternal grandmothers maiden name, which is Scott. My maiden name is Hill and it's very English. I usually stick to a Stewart tartan ❤️ 7y

quirkyreader @DeborahSmall I can also use the "default" tartan that the Irish use, but I prefer the Scottish one. My great-grand parents were Scots-Irish and came to the States in the 20th Century. So my American roots don't go back that far. 7y

DeborahSmall My great grandparents were Irish too, on my dads side. My grandparents met in Belfast by chance although they were both born in Glasgow. My mums family roots have been traced back to Lithuania. I'd love to do the ancestry DNA matching 7y

quirkyreader @DeborahSmall That is so cool. I would like to do the DNA match as well because part of my father's family comes from an island that was conquered by many different civilizations. Ranging from The Romans, Moors, and Vikings. 7y

Jess_Read_This @elliemcc11 I just learned about the 15 1/2p stamps from an Instagrammer! She said they were last printed in 1983 and discontinued in 1984!! I'm sending them along to her for her collection. I just thought they were neat and had clue on their background. 7y

elliemcc11 Can't say I remember them being issued but then it was 1983 or 1984 when they were in circulation. If she's a collector she will probably be very interested. 7y
