Scottish Gaelic 😁
A couple of weeks ago in #Scotland on the wonderful Isle of Lismore (off the coast of Oban)
I so wanted to really like this as I was a massive reader as a child and I like the author, but I found this too wordy and didn't have the patience. At the moment I want some fiction to race through...i may well return to it as quite a few of the books I had also read...
(My #netgalley copy was pants in terms of how its been published for Kindle, which didn't help...)
ARC from #netgalley.
#currentlyreading this account of memories of childhood reading. Not too far in so far but loving the references she makes to the books she read. And I read most of them as a child of the 70s/80s.
The author writes for The Guardian (UK) and I know her well from there and another book she wrote a while ago about getting married. She's quite witty which made that and this easy enjoyable reads.

5* read for me.
Funny and moving in equal parts. Definitely a recommended read. So glad it held up to the hype. 😁👍
3 star read and I am pretty sure I've read this before on Kindle.
Set in 1950s NYC three women meet in a hotel for ladies of a certain social standing. Each are in the city to follow their own dreams, be it to be a writer, to escape the Midwest or to escape a strict unloving upbringing. This is a tale of friendship, love, self-development...an easy read for a winter evening.

I'm sure I've read this book before...or it's a case of deja vu ... 🤔
Few chapters in and I like this. I relate to the Abigail character on a number of levels...
I've my reading light clipped to my book as we off to the in-laws tomorrow for Xmas and they don't do bedside reading lights (😦) plus I'm sharing a room with my 5 year old so need her to stay asleep tomorrow night 🎅

History (WW2) and a book set in one of my favourite cities 😁
Whoop! Complete my #goodreads challenge for this year! 25 books read. Didn't set the bar too high this year 📚
I'm not a Harry Potter fan but I know many will like to see this #harrypotter #cursedchild
I now see where #Shakespeare got his inspiration from. Always liked Antony & Cleopatra as a play.

2016 we had hygge; 2017 it's lagom. Lagom is a Swedish concept related to balance, "not too much, not too little" lifestyle concept. The book was pretty (nice photos) and there were cute ideas about how to get balance/sustainability in your life but ultimately it was the type of book that I'd borrow from the library rather than read again and again.
Just finished reading this #arc and I'd recommend it.
Two couples meet when their kids are babies and form a friendship. Things begin to unravel when one half of each couple become bored and attracted to one other. The plot becomes more twisted and complicated with increasing involvement and obsession.
Told from the point of view of the 4 main characters you get a good insight into their personalities & psychologies.
I don't normally wake up to a view of the mountains so taking full opportunity and reading in bed with the view in front of me.
We are staying in part of the region famous for Welsh slate mining. Sadly the kids are a bit too young for one of the underground tours of the mines.

Impromptu break away to Wales. My sister-in-law's cottage let had a cancellation so we were asked if we would like a mini break 😊
No book to read at the cafe unfortunately 😏
But we've visited an impressive castle at Conwy 🏰
50% and nothing noteworthy has happened and the characters annoy me... don't like abandoning books 😐
Got this ages ago on #netgalley and the formatting isn't helping with readability unfortunately. Couple of pages in and it's interesting enough. Reviews are very mixed on #goodreads
Just a few purchases before bedtime 🙈🙊🤣📚
Read Brooklyn by Colm Toibin a while ago. Managed to watch the film tonight. Book & film both v good ! 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really liked this tale of a Dad coming to terms with his son's autism (and dealing with the pressures of life and relationships) and the bond they formed via Minecraft. 👨👦
Reading whilst waiting at Calais to load onto the ferry and head home from France......🇫🇷🇬🇧
Short but thought provoking read. The story of a marriage and the relationship and how that relationship is tested when the threesome fantasy is enacted. Interesting questions raised about marriage.
This was a #netgalley read from a while ago so I couldn't remember the context of the story so it was an surprising read 😉
Not a bad place to finish reading a book. Much as I disliked the lead characters, the story was very good and prefect holiday reading 📚🇫🇷🏕
New (to me) treat to try. My husband has taken our 5 year old on a canoe trip on the Dordogne river so me and my 3 year old are having a morning at the campsite
😅😉 the highlighted comment made me laugh. Currently in the Dordogne and it's not just cheese but also baguette, pain au chocolat, patisserie, wine...👍🇫🇷🍷
When in France 🍷🇫🇷
