I couldn‘t help myself. My disappointment with #BOTM the past several months has led me to join #aardvarkbookclub and I‘m thrilled.
My most anticipated book for this month was on there plus at least 6 more that I wanted. Combine that with a $4 code for your first book and they got me. 🤞
😻 #aardvark
Has anyone else switched? What are your thoughts?

JamieArc I haven‘t totally switched. But I‘ve become pretty blase about BOTM and it seems that between the two subscriptions, there is something to be excited about. 7mo
DestinyMorna I‘m still loving BOTM and am excited for the new Ali hazelwood book, Not in Love. Can‘t wait for my box! (edited) 7mo
AardvarkBookClub Huge welcome from the whole team!! 🫶 Thank you so much for supporting a small bookish business! 7mo
MaleficentBookDragon @AardvarkBookClub thank you! I am VERY excited about your selections and I‘m going to have a hard time waiting for my first box to arrive.😻 7mo
MaleficentBookDragon @DestinyMorna I get it. I do think #BOTM is great for romances. I think that is why my friend @CaringLoudly joined. Her two favorite genres are romance and literacy fiction (though I guess this is a category not genre) so she usually finds more appealing options than I have of late. I‘d love to do Jenny Lawson‘s #strangelingsbookclub but is it out of my price range right now. (edited) 7mo

I liked this slow burn, Gothic novel. My biggest problem was keeping track of all the male characters, which was important in order to follow the plot. Might‘ve been easier in print, vs. audio.

Next up on audiobook. I listened to Furiously Happy earlier this year and laughed my ass off so decided to listen to Jenny Lawson's other books. The past couple of weeks have been rough mentally so I figured I need a few good laughs.

GondorGirl She does such a good job blending serious topics with humor. 🥰 1y

This book was just plain silly, and I don‘t mean that in a good way. I‘m not sure about the point the author was trying to make other than anti-LGBTQ politicians who are gay are hypocrites. 🤷🏻‍♀️

A closeted gay Republican congressman has just been sent a stuffed aardvark from his secret lover who just committed suicide. Meanwhile the parallel story of the taxidermist who stuffed it in the 19th c is told. See, weird but not funny…👎🏻👎🏻

Megabooks I finished this last week before the two nights below freezing @Suet624 and we had this much Iris greenery above ground. 🤯 2y
Cinfhen Too bad it was a miss because it sounds like it had potential too be really entertaining 2y
Megabooks @Cinfhen I took a risk on this from the bargain section of book outlet, and it wasn‘t a win. Others have been, but I‘m not going to like every book unfortunately! 2y
TrishB It should have been a win for the title alone! 2y
CarolynM It was weird but I liked it. The mix of satire and pathos worked for me. 2y

First 2023 start and finish! And it‘s a good one!! 🎉

I‘ve had this one on my shelf for ages. I‘m not usually one for multi generational family drama, but this one was off the rails and disaster-y enough to hold me through. Or my tastes are changing. Who knows!
