Why Am I Here? | Constance rbeck-Nilssen

#NewYearNewBooks Day 16: One of the most profound picturebooks on #Refugees and asks this question: “What if I had to move from place to place? And the only things I could keep were what I was able to carry with me. What would it be like to live like that?” This is one story that pushes the envelope just a tad further, as international picturebook titles from Norway usually do.

The Sense of Wonder | Rachel Carson

A lovely Rachel Carson book geared toward children and with her grandnephew Roger in mind, written when he visited her summer Maine cottage. First published as an essay in 1956, she wanted to publish this with illustrations to captivate children, however was not able to complete the visuals before her death. This is a posthumous edition from 1998 with new photos celebrating nature and its wonders. A quick and peaceful read.

I had a feeling when I found this at the library that it was going to make me cry. I didn't expect how much, though. The whole book killed me. It makes a great gift for your true love. I wish I had had the hope page when I was 33. The sadness page has me reframing my focus on comfort.

#SummerSpecial Day 19: #MoonDay - this book asks: “Is the moon the world‘s night light?” This is a story that would inspire any reader, young or old, to look at the world around them with wonder in their eyes. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-puc

The Sense of Wonder | Rachel Carson

Rachel Carson, in this short essay accompanied by Nick Kelsh‘s photographs, discusses how to instill a love of nature in a child. My favorite quote: “It is more important to pave the the way for the child to want to know than to put him on a diet of facts he is not ready to assimilate.”

“And most of all best of all it all never ends, for the wonderful happens and happens again:”
This quote is so uplifting, much like the book. It gives hope and light. I love this quote and this book!

I love the layout of this book. The artwork looking so completed and beautiful. The frame around the artwork corresponding with the picture is a wonderful touch and makes it look even more complete and calm. This picture makes me feel warm and at home like I am in my mom or grandmas garden!

This beautifully illustrated book The Wonderful Happens. This book if full of completed work. Completed, like the art is in frames and it has beautiful, simple, yet detailed pictures. This book makes you want to slow down and enjoy each word, and each picture. It gives you a calm sense. Great read for a time where you want to calm your class and talk about how wonderful this world is, especially with them(you) in it! Love!
