A peaceful demonstration against nuclear power turns violent and ends with a police officer dead. Superintendent Burgess, whose interrogation tactics are intimidating & brutal, is sent in to head the investigation. Banks tries to work around him to maintain his positive relationships & solve the murder. Add an ex-hippie community, twists, turns, & a surprise ending & we have another series winner. #serieslove2025 #3

Influenced by the BritBox show,I started reading inspector Allen Bank series. This # two in the series captivated me from the start.A former professor,a “dedicated man,” inherited money & moves to the Yorkshire Dales to pursue his archaeological work.Everyone seems to love him,& yet he‘s found bludgeoned to death. What secrets are people holding, past in present?I was mesmerized & carried along as Banks pursued one lot of inquiry after another.⬇️
Watching UConn Women play Arkansas State & reading this Chief Inspector Banks #2 mystery. #serieslove2025

I really wasn't deliberately avoiding a #BookSpinBingo, but at this point, it's too funny -- I'm trying to keep it up until any book I read would be an inevitable bingo.
Drake Hall is the second book in a series; I enjoyed the first book, but wondered how it was going to handle Edith's Jewish heritage (if at all), whether it was just using it for exoticisation purposes, etc, given that she's very Christian. This book somewhat answered that worry.
#12BooksOf2024 My book for #May had to be the last from the late great crime writer Peter Robinson, RIP. I‘ve been reading his DCI Banks series for over 20yrs and the fact there will never be another one saddens me immensely. I highly recommend the whole series but if you don‘t want to go that far back, Aftermath is a great starting point in the timeline.
