I‘m so glad I read this. I was on the fence at the beginning. Many of the characters were not immediately likable but, as often occurs in real life, once I got to know them, I just wanted more. Any uncertainties at the beginning were totally worth the payoff in the second half of the book. Now I want a sequel!

(Also this quote ⬆️). It was a hard call whether to call this a pick or so-so... but I‘m an optimist. This book wasn‘t what I expected based on the title but still a good premise. Over all, the storyline and outcome were predictable. There were no surprises for me. That being said, I still enjoyed reading it. Basically, this is the most worthless book review ever. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This was a fun, slightly over-the-top summer read. I found myself googling all the crazy things they were describing so I could get a more accurate mental picture. If you enjoy this book, the less than fulfilling ending will ensure that you launch right into book 2. Recommended for a fun, frivolous read. ☀️

This book expertly walks the fine line between hilarious and heartbreaking. I loved Eleanor so much. Highly recommend.

This story was another with an unreliable narrator and with most books I still have a sense of what is coming before events happen but I honestly didn‘t know where they were going with this book. And that is a good thing!

Audiobook: I read this book years ago and I wanted to read it again before the movie came out. Instead, I opted for the audiobook since I had a long drive to make. It stands the rest of time... I loved it in elementary school and I love it now. The reader was very, very good. Even more interesting was an extra bit at the end where they discuss the author and the history of publishing the book as well as public reactions to it.

I‘m having a hard time deciding how to rate this one... It was quick and easy to read and certainly kept me engaged. I zoomed through this book in a day. However, I did feel like there were a lot of holes in the story and unanswered questions especially with the ending. I was left unsatisfied. I must also say, with all of the recent events, I‘m not sure the timing was right to read this one.

Kenneth Branagh is an excellent reader (and actor, director, etc. I‘m a fan!). I‘m pretty sure he can do any accent you could think of. This audiobook kept me guessing and made a long drive much more enjoyable.

Poster Art of the Disney Parks | Daniel Handke, Vanessa Hunt

I just left Disney World (😢), but I found this wonderful book there. It is full of beautiful Disney poster art but is also really informative with cool Disney history and park facts. I‘m looking forward to reading it better but the poster art is amazing.

LA_Mead Disney World is awesome! What‘s your favourite Park? (Mine is magic kingdom) 6y
CaraLiane @LA_Mead - How do you choose? If pressed, probably Magic Kingdom but Epcot and AK are close. I was skeptical about the new Pandora addition at AK but it is so beautiful, especially at night. It doesn‘t matter at all whether or not you‘ve seen the movie. (edited) 6y

A Walk in the Woods | Bill Bryson

Pickpick

The first book I read about hiking was “Wild” by Cheryl Strayed, and I was surprised by how engrossing the day to day details of someone else‘s hike could be. “A Walk in the Woods” was even better. Bryson‘s experience was relatable, touching, and laugh out loud funny in parts. I also appreciate the facts he includes on geology, climate change, endangered species, and the National Park Service.

MommyWantsToReadHerBook I really enjoyed this one! 6y

A crime fiction with an interesting plot. This book also deals with a specific complex ethical and social issue that gives you a lot to think about. Interesting read.

This book is not as good as the Outlanders but overall I did enjoy it. It was fairly light, easy reading with a little mystery for Lord John to solve. This book would have been more enjoyable and engrossing if the other characters had more meaningful interactions with our title character. I love Lord John and his young valet, Tom, but most of the other characters were a little flat for me. I expect Lord John‘s story will improve with each book.

I loved this book! I tried reading it earlier this year and couldn‘t get into it. I‘m so glad I picked it back up. It immediately captured my imagination this time. This story, set in Russia, is full of magic and folklore and features an unusual girl who finds her inner strength.

EmilyM I just finished the second one, The Girl in the Tower, and I liked it better than this one ( and I loved this one!) 6y
CaraLiane @EmilyM - I only recently discovered that this was one in a series. I was surprised because I think this one stands well alone and I liked how it ended. Still, I‘m adding The Girl in the Tower to my reading list. 6y
SauerPatch I saw this yesterday on Amazon‘s digital day sale and considered getting it then. Glad to have a trusted review! ☺️ 6y

A fast paced read. For me, it was a mix of The Hunger Games, The Matrix, and Percy Jackson... in a good way. I‘m looking forward to book two.

Andrew65 I enjoyed this too, and need to move onto book 2. 6y
SauerPatch I‘m so glad you liked it! It was very Hunger Games for quite a while, but it gets a lot more original in the second book. Just wait! 😎 (edited) 6y
