AMAZING.
So so excited to read this! Such a good birthday present :)
So so excited to read this! Such a good birthday present :)
I absolutely loved this book. It has social experiments, raw characters, children, drama, and everything else you want. It was much more character driven than I expected and it was so well done.
Literally in the first page of chapter one and I am already so into this book!
I've never been this excited for a #bookofthemonthclub box! 📚😍📚🤗
Eeeee so excited for this annotated by the author copy of THE ANIMATORS! 😍📚😍📚
So excited for all of these fantastic books we got at Powells Chicago! We already have stuffed shelves...but what's a few more? #bookhaul
I finally started THE WANGS VS THE WORLD and am loving it so far. I'm only 50 pages in and I'm already so invested in this family. #allisnotlost
My second pick of the #24in48 #readathon! I have no idea what this is about but I'm ready to find out!
Enjoying this as my first book of the 24 in 48 Readathon. It's uncanny how well the movie takes dialogue and descriptions from the text. Many scenes are done verbatim. It seems to speak to Goldman's talent as a screenwriter (All the President's Men, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid)
Kicking off this @24in48 #readathon with the newest Dublin Murder Squad. I may be coming a little late to the party, but I am so excited to get reading!
Finally finally finally picking this up. It feels like the perfect book to read on the eve of the inauguration, and is a form of protest in itself. #diversereads
I am so in love with this book. The story is haunting, the writing is fantastic, and it captures the spirit of Arkansas, to the point of making this Hendrix alum miss the Natural State.
I am obsessed with my January #bookofthemonth box! I can't wait to read everything 😍📚😍📚😍
So excited for my January #bookofthemonth box to get here! LUCKY YOU looks fantastic and I am dying to read THE WANGS VS THE WORLD.
Set my reading goal for 2017 and picked my first book of the year! I can't wait for this year in books! 📚📚📚
Sitting by the fire with what will probably be my last book of 2016. Cheers!
What a strange book. I didn't hate it, but I also found it difficult to really care about the story. The premise was super interesting but the execution and plot was simply predictable. If you're looking for a quick beachy read, this isn't a bad pick.
Getting into the thick of it and really enjoying it so far. Easy is a great character and I am super intrigued with all the layers. #readharder
This is the kind of book in which none of the characters are especially likable (many are actually quite infuriating), and yet you get so invested into what is going on that you just can't stop reading. I loved this book, I loved the twists and turns, and I loved the overarching story of the hit and run. I wasn't shocked by the end but I didn't feel like I needed to be. Definitely one to pick up!
Woweewoweewow. This is intense and heartbreaking and cynical and really great. I listened on audio (Valenti narrates) and it was an incredibly powerful listening experience. It'll punch you in the gut and get you fired up, and offers an all too relevant picture of sexism in our world.
This beauty is mine and I love it so far. Megan Abbott writes crazy competition soooo well!
Ooooh this was a good one. Totally character driven, with juicy and emotional narratives. The paramedic narrative running through the book was fascinating and I could have read another 200 pages about these characters. So glad I picked it up!
I am absolutely loving this book so far. The cast of characters is fabulous and the framework of the paramedics is such an interesting way to weave things together. Plus it fulfills one of my #ReadHarder tasks!
This is another important, hard, really well written book. I'm about halfway through and am so glad I finally picked this up.
Spending this crispy fall day with Zadie Smith. #diversereads #newrelease
Falling into this book and finding comfort in Smith's fantastic writing. #newrelease #diversereads
😍 Love love love Mira Grant and the world she creates, and loving FEEDBACK so far! It's so fun to revisit the post-Rising United States from a totally different perspective.
Surprised at how much I enjoyed this book! I love the fantasy world of Geralt and the twisted take on fairy tales and stories of adventures with mystical beings. A+!
Diving into the world of the Witcher after rave reviews from my second half. Let's go, crazy fantasy world!
Underwhelmed, especially after the brilliance of STIFF. I am definitely not writing Mary Roach off completely but I might take a little break before I pick up any more of her work. #readharder
Working on another Mary Roach and less excited for it than when I read "Stiff" BUT I am determined to finish it this week!
Heading on to book 3! Excited to pick this thriller up 🤗 #readathon
Book 2 of my #readathon! Definitely a totally different book than Fellside but still really great so far.
People like it when you tell them things, in suitable portions, in a modest, intimate tone, and they think they know you, but they do not, they know about you, for what they are let in on are facts, not feelings, not what your opinion is about anything at all, not how what has happened to you and how all the decisions you have made have turned you into what you are.
I am already in awe of Brit Bennett and this book. It is stunning and I'm only halfway through it!
LOVED this. I adore the show Top Chef and thought Padma was a badass, but her story outside of Top Chef is fascinating and a roller coaster of emotions. The descriptions of food are heavenly and the only thing I wanted more of was recipes. Definitely a great memoir to pick up.
"My love of cheese was liberated." She gets me, y'all, 100%.
Y'all I am in love with this book! I'm not terribly far in yet but I am super sucked in to Padma's life, and also her descriptions of food are AHmazing.
I just can't do it anymore. I am not interested and put off by the drugs, misogyny, and fragmented chapters. I'll have to find a new "published the year you were born" book for my #ReadHarderChallenge
The best #FridayReads - I love love this, even as a non-Shakespeare lover.
Today's book! 😍😍😍 Margaret Atwood is a queen so I know this is going to be a fantastic read
On this lovely #recommendsday I recommend Helen Oyeyemi's "What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours." I'm not usually a bit short story person but this collection was so great and weird and I loved it!
It's not a happy story and you won't find any jokes, but this is a gripping stop that will scratch your Deadliest Catch itch. The twist was especially twisty and it's got a nice touch of haunting otherworldliness, and there's definitely no bow wrapping up the book at the end. Read it and stay far away from icy oceans!
