Got this in the mail today!! Woot woot!!
I normally feel I‘m fairly intelligent, but this book is over my head. Lol!!

I received this advanced read copy, so unfortunately there is no afterword or acknowledgements in it. I feel like my copy ended rather abruptly and an afterword would have tied it up nicely.
Regardless, this was a very good memoir from Khizr Khan, the gold star parent who spoke at the Democratic National Convention. He speaks of his path to America and becoming a citizen. Mr. Khan ends with his speech at the DNC.
"War is always tragedy, visceral and bloody evidence that all other options have failed."
Looking forward to starting this tonight. Won an ARC before it's even listed on Litsy. 😊
Trying to finish this tonight.
Super excited. Between Shades of Gray is the free audiobook this week for the SYNC summer reading program. 😊
I liked the way this book was set up and the pace kept me interested.
My #outofthisworldgiveaway book. @valeriegeary Hoping to win your book! 😀
What to read next?! Vacation next week, so I need to pick a book.
Got this in the mail today. Look at the cute post it notes it came with! 🤗#flatironbooks @flatironbooks
Just got back from seeing Wonder Woman. It was AH-MAZ-ING!!
Got some eclipse glasses for the real eclipse on 8/21 from #minotaurbooks. How cool!! I'm only part way through the book but eclipses are a big part of the story.
I loved this book!! I won an advance reader's edition.
Centered around a casino in Las Vegas, this is a story of some very diverse characters whose lives are connected. Diverse racially, culturally, religiously and socio-economically. Such a good story.
Just started this a few days ago. I wish I had more spare time. I love it so far!!
This was a good, quick read. A story about a man with Alzheimer's and his daughter who moves home to help take care of him. I connected with a lot of it because I just had to move my mom out of her apartment because of a history of falling. Thankfully she does not have Alzheimer's, but the aging process has reversed our positions. Me the parent, her the child.
Got TWO new advance readers editions in the mail today!!! So excited!
Super sick with bronchitis, couldn't sleep last night so I finished this at 4am. 🤒😷
A JoJo Moyes book I hadn't heard of is super cheap today. 😀
Got this ARC in the mail today!!! 😀
Interesting story from the perspective of one of the bees in a hive. More violent than I expected but then, I don't know much about bees. 🐝
So I recently started playing with Audible to see what my Prime membership gives me. Love the channels! I was going to read The Bees, but found the audiobook for The Midwife's Revolt in my list of books in Audible. So now I'm intrigued and thinking about reading AND LISTENING to that instead. Decisions, decisions!!! 🤓
This book had me in tears and I almost never cry reading books, but it was so reminiscent of putting my own dog down two years ago that I couldn't stop thinking about him while reading. 😭 Chose to see the movie today. (I know a lot of people are boycotting it.) There were some changes with characters and the story that I don't think were necessary and they seriously glossed over or removed all of the sad parts, so no crying at the movie.
I really can't say much without giving the ending away. This book definitely held my interest. The end definitely is WTF, but not like I expected.
There's a lot of reference to lucid dreaming in this book. I tend to read late in the evening and I ended up with some pretty messed up dreams one night.
As another reviewer suggested, you should absolutely go back and reread the first few chapters when you finish it.
"To trust the truth of a thing, you have to suffer the thing. You have to get mud on your hands and dirt under your fingernails. You have to dig for it."
Saw this movie yesterday, based on the book A Long Way Home. #somanytears Have to read the book now. What an incredible story!
This is my problem with @Litsy You guys talked up this book, I got intrigued, and had to buy it. I DON'T EVEN DO HORROR!! Making my husband read it first to make sure I can handle it. Lol! #blameitonlitsy
No one cares what cellars look like. The grime and grit of bare walls is in some ways more honest about the soul of a house.
This is probably the best book I've read in a while. I kept going back to the genealogy to see where I was in the family history. I don't usually reread books because there are so many other books I want to read, but I could start this over right now and be happy.
Since everyone else is doing it, I finally figured out how. 🙂
Getting ready to start this, surrounded by critters. 😊
This was a quick, fun read to finish off the year. 😁
Starting this. I need to read two more books to get my Goodreads reading challenge complete. 😕
FINALLY finished this. I almost quit several times. Not a good book to read at the end of the night if you're prone to falling asleep while reading. There's just so much going on and I may have missed some stuff in my dozing off. Not a bad book at all, but I had a hard time getting into it.
I was gone for the weekend but when I got back, this was in the mail. Won from @bookriot and the University of Iowa Press. 😃
Tried to start this book at the BOA Grand National Championships, but it's pretty hard to read while listening to marching bands. 😂
Found this for my son who has always loved the Captain Underpants series. He's 25, but I still buy them for him. 😂
Reading with a lap full of animals while hubby watches Luke Cage. This book makes me want to rewatch Tombstone.
Finally got this in the mail. #RIFWinner
Just found out I won this!! 😀 #ReadItForward #ReadABookDay
If you ever want to know who I am, just read this paragraph here. Lol!!
Such a good book! Finished this tonight, then watched the movie. Book and movie are very similar, minor differences. Now if I can just get to NYC to see the show before Heather Headley is done, I'll be super happy.
Seems like something I should remember as I start this book.
This was SO GOOD!! That's all I have to say. Just read it!!
