I just learned that there are some people asking why there‘s no straight pride month.?That reminds me of people who ask why there‘s no White history month.? People need to start educating themselves.

Anyway, back to why I originally wanted to post on Litsy: any of you Littens got any good LGBTQ+ *fiction* books to recommend???️‍? It‘s high time I diversify my library.

Traci1 This is one of my favorite books. 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @Traci1 Thanks! I‘ll check it out🐇 3y

I‘m a fold-the-page kind of girl.🐶 I don‘t use a bookmark unless it was given to me for free.💰I already spend so much on books, I can‘t be spending on their accessories too.🐈‍⬛

Which one are you into? Bookmarks 🔖 or dog ears🐶?

There‘s something about holding a book, feeling the covers, flipping the pages, smelling the book—there‘s something about it that makes me prefer paperback books to ebooks.📖 What about you Littens? Are you into paperbacks or ebooks?

OutsmartYourShelf I like both. I do prefer the feel of a physical book, but I can store 1000s on my Kindle whereas my shelves are at capacity. 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @OutsmartYourShelf I get what you mean…but they look so nice & pretty on a shelf!!✨You gotta stack them all on there or maybe build another shelf!🛠 As your username says: Outsmart your shelf!📚 3y
OutsmartYourShelf @ilanakeukake They‘re already double stacked on each shelf, on top of the wardrobe & in random piles around the room. I think the only thing for it is a bigger house, with a library. 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @OutsmartYourShelf Sounds like the type of situation I‘m in.🦤 3y

Urgh! This is so beautiful.💛🖤 What figure of speech is this? A metaphor? Imagery? Whatever it is, I‘m grateful for it & I‘m glad I stumbled on it during my midnight read.🌓

2. Despite major differences in their religions, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians & Muslims all believe in life after death (eg reincarnation, nirvana, paradise/hell)🪦

Potential unpopular opinion: I found the middle part near the end of It🎈 & of The Shining🪓 boring. I actually skipped a few chapters. I loved the rest of the books though. There‘s no denying it, King is a phenomenal storyteller. #losersclub

Littens I have a friend (I swear I‘m not talking about myself, I‘m actually talking about a friend) who keeps books in the bathroom.🧻Some people read the newspaper when they‘re on the can, she reads books.🪠So my question to YOU, Littens, is what‘s the weirdest place you‘ve ever read in?🦨

Erinsuereads On a ski lift 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @ErinSueMreads Seriously? That‘s hardcore. I love it.🎿 3y
Erinsuereads Yeah! It was like a fifteen minute ride to the top. Today I was reading in a combine while my boyfriend cut wheat 🤣🤣 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @ErinSueMreads Had to look up “combine” because I wasn‘t familiar with that word in the context you were using it. Found a definition.📖 Found some pictures.📸And I gotta say, I seriously think you should change your bio from “Read everything.” To “Read everything. Read anywhere.” 🌾 3y

I just found a whole bunch of old comic books I used to read as a kid!!💥💥I used to always have my main read (a novel) & a comic on the side (usually Archie or manga). Anyone else went through a comic book phase?🦔

jdiehr Yes - and Archie was my favorite! 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @jdiehr Same. They were light & funny. When I read them in middle school, I couldn‘t wait to be in high school because I thought all I‘d do is go to the beach & hang with friends.💭I was wrong. 3y

You gotta explain this to me #losersclub. What exactly was the purpose of the kids having an orgy? And could King have achieved that purpose without that (disturbing) scene?

KathyWheeler That scene is just flat-out creepy. I definitely think he could‘ve achieved his vision for the book without it. I‘m glad it‘s been left out of the movies. 3y

I put a post out yesterday (June 5) asking whether reading prologues & epilogues is optional. Littens have spoken: prologues & epilogues MUST be read at all times. Court is adjourned.👩🏾‍⚖️

I heard some people don‘t read prologues because the scene described reappears later in the story & I heard some people DO read prologues because it adds information.📖So my question is, Littens do you read prologues &/or epilogues?🧐

TrishB All of them! 3y
Cathythoughts Me too ... I read them all 👍🏻❤️ 3y
peanutnine Gotta read every page! If the author includes it, it must be important 3y
See All 16 Comments
jessinikkip All the time. Why wouldnt you?! The author went through the work to include it, it has got to be important. It may not make sense now, on first resd but it will later. 3y
KathyWheeler Not reading the prologue seems to me the same as not reading the epilogue. Why would you skip it? It‘s there for a reason. I had no idea some people don‘t read the prologue. It usually contains information that illuminates everything that comes after. An epilogue sometimes changes the entire meaning of the book. If you don‘t read the epilogue to Joe Hill‘s The Fireman, you‘ve read a completely different book than I did, for instance. (edited) 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @Cathythoughts Same! I read everything between the covers, even the acknowledgments sometimes.🦩 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @peanutnine Agreed. I‘d feel like I‘m missing something if I just skipped the prologue & epilogue. 🦤 3y
rwmg I always read the prologue (though saying "the prologue" I feel I'm channelling Frankie Howerd), and rather more cautiously the epilogue. I have read epilogues which change the entire book for the worse. I tend to read Introductions after the book because Spoilers (now channelling River Song) 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @jessinikkip I 100% agree. I especially like it when I‘m reading a thriller & the prologue is cryptic. When I read on & finally find out how the prologue relates to the book, it‘s like adding the last piece to a jigsaw puzzle & hearing the satisfying *click*🧩 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @KathyWheeler You, my friend, just made me curious about The Fireman.🧯 Should I add it to my stack? Is it any good? I love when epilogues change the meaning of the whole story.🦑 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @rwmg Hmmm, reading prologues after the book, eh? That‘s interesting, I never heard of that one before.🐟 But I get your reasoning, you want to avoid spoilers.🚫 Do you find that many prologues contain spoilers? Most of the ones I‘ve read so far don‘t, they‘re actually enigmatic (e.g. someone we know by Shari Lapena). What‘s your experience been like so far? Also who wrote River Song?🌊 Was it any good? Might add it to my stack.📚 3y
rwmg @ilanakeukake No, I read prologues first, but introductions afterwards. The intros are usually by a different author writing about a classic. River Song is a character on Doctor Who. "Spoilers" and " Hello, Sweetie" are her catch phrases 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @rwmg Gotcha. I completely misunderstood your first comment.🤦🏾‍♀️ Glad you clarified!🐋 3y
KathyWheeler @ilanakeukake I love almost everything Joe Hill has written. N0S4A2 is my favorite, but I liked The Fireman too. Some people don‘t like dystopian fiction, though, and The Fireman is that. 3y
Hhhjjjnsjehdhwjd @KathyWheeler Will check both those books out. Thanks! 🐏 3y

There are stories that take you on a ride. A thrilling ride full of twists & turns & big reveals & deceiving characters & when the ride is over you find yourself thinking back about it over & over again. This book is one of those stories. I don‘t know if it‘s been translated in English, but if you like thrillers & you don‘t speak French, learn yourself some French & read this book.

Now THAT‘S how you write an epilogue.?? It pulls you in, it‘s not a waste of ink✒️ you must read it, it‘s part of the story, it‘s mind-boggling, it knits every chapter together & reveals elements that will make the story stick with you long after you‘ve read it.⏳ Je n‘ai jamais lu un épilogue aussi bien écrit.??

This is why I love thick books: I‘ve recently started practicing contortion. I don‘t have the yoga blocks used to deepen stretches so I‘ve had to improvise.? Anyone else uses their books other than for reading?? J'ai récemment commencé à pratiquer la contorsion. Anyone else get distracted with the book section in a drug store & then forgets why they walked in the store in the first place? This is why I bring a list with me, people.? Suis-je la seul à me laisser distraire par le rayon des livres d'un magasin et à oublier pourquoi je suis entrée dans le magasin ? C'est pourquoi j'apporte toujours une liste avec moi.??‍♀️

Traci1 I wish. Our drug store has just magazines and like 4 random paperbacks that have been sitting on the shelf for forever. I still look at them every time I go in, though, in hopes they'll be different this time. 4y

There are some books that you read when you‘re mature enough to appreciate the writing but not the subject matter or the (well-deserved) jabs the author makes at society.✏️ That‘s what happened with me & Gone Girl. I read it a few years ago when it was all anyone was talking about. It‘s time for me to reread it.📖
