Lower Ed was the last non fiction to join my bedside pile of books read in 2017! I shouldn‘t have waited so long to read it!

I buy a bunch of books then inevitably my library holds come in and I find myself unable to prioritize all of them. I need more reading time in my day....
Book folk why when I look for bookshelves why are all the pictures of like four books and a bunch of knick knacks?! I want a real bookcase that will hold the loads and loads of books I have and I want it to look really nice in my living room anyone have ideas?!
If you look really closely The Hate U Give is on the side table, I started it today, it's better than my high expectations!
This was one of the best romances I've read in a while! Alyssa Cole did Civil War love so well. The history and weight of it all was there but so was a lot of steam and smart funny characters.
I have read these all digitally but I want to reread them and I felt like physical books would be better, despite the snow they arrived this weekend! At some point this year I'm doing a full reread!
My husband said the Barnes and Noble sales guy enjoyed the eclectic mix of TBR books on my list as they trekked from teen fiction for Goldenhand to literary to mystery/crime :) I am looking forward to reading this one next!
I am waiting for my kid at the dentist and this story just knocked me over. What a beautiful story.
My husband picked two books from my TBR list for Christmas. One he had heard me talk about (Wangs vs World) and one that he was interested in because I've mentioned wishing we had more books in common to talk about. I'm going to keep him! Merry Christmas to those who celebrate :)
Overflowing bedside table finishing up The Mothers (amazing) then diving into Difficult Women, which is the prettiest book!
There's so much wrong with so many things right now but man paragraphs like this one still grab me with the sheer injustice.
In my continued post election educate myself read-a-thon I am finding this book very helpful. Many folks have recommended it, I can easily see why.
This book has been on my list for the history of institutionalized racial discrimination for a while and it hasn't disappointed. In the age of Trump it feels very relevant for that and for the powers the government took during WWII. I can't say I am enjoying it as such but it is worth the read.
Dragging out of my post election reading slump with some reading I have been meaning to get to
I love this audio and it has been my go to this week as a source of comfort and inspiration.
This series is like returning to old friends. I love Louise Penny's style and this book has been great. The last two Gamache books were ok for me but this one was excellent. This is part of my continued campaign of comfort through Tuesday!
I am listening to this book and every time I turn it on it rips my guts out (another reason I am reading amazing, happy ending romance). It is so beautiful, her depictions of motherhood to little boys is spot on and perfect but in the context of her story also crushingly sad. I cry every time I listen yet I keep going because it is so powerful.
These first two books in Tiffany Reisz's Men at Work series have been so good. If there were 50 more I would buy them all and read them straight through Tuesday in an attempt to escape my election anxiety.
Spending my rainy afternoon with my signed copy of Another Brooklyn
#24in48 I will likely fall short of 24 hours - kid's birthday party and family obligations but dedicating some time tonight to the dogs and finally reading Homegoing which I have had for weeks waiting for some dedicated reading time.#readathon
This book was so good. Victoria Schwab is a master at blurring the lines of good and evil and keeping the reader right at the edge of right and wrong or in this case monster and human!
Super excited for the next book from Victoria Schwab! It's coming to the beach with me.
I read this in a day because it was such a great read. Tiffany Reisz writes the best sex scenes and this book is so wonderfully twisty.
I'm attempting the audio but the narrator doing high school girls is driving me insane.....soldier through or bail and read it another time?
I needed a mental break and romance is my fav. I read all three in this trilogy in four days & they are .99 on Amazon. Great romance great characters
I listened to the BBC dramatization of this book so it wasn't a full on audio reading. It was fantastic! This is the second BBC production I have listened to (Neverwhere being the other) and I have loved both. My library has a lot so I am going to look for more. A great way to experience this book
The sadness in Dill & Travis' worlds & the depiction of people in difficult circumstances making choices gave me lots of feels. Lydia trying to reconcile her world with what she can even understand of theirs was a good reminder on judgement. And they were fun, interesting teens to hang w/in a book.
Looking forward to starting this book, it is so beautiful I have to keep it safe from my children!
I wish I could remember who on Twitter called out this series, I'm grateful! I love a good crime/police series but the ones I follow are very....white. Book 1 in Hall's Elouise Norton series is full of interesting, smart, diverse characters, a great who done it murder. I already started book 2.
This book was fun and easy to listen to. It's a bit dated as you'd expect but that didn't detract from the smart humor. Nora Ephron reads it and she is funny and witty. A great audiobook experience.
I wish I could tag all 3 books but by library wait list luck (& Book Riot recs) I read The Warmth of Other Suns followed immediately by The Turner House & We Love You Charlie Freeman. TWOOS added historical context & depth to the two amazing novels. They were a powerful trio I am still processing.
Those are tears on the page because this book is amazing. The writing is incredible, the story is beautiful. I cried for Amanda and all the boys/girls/men/women who are living her experiences. I can't say enough about this book but you should get it, today, and tissues, block off a day and read it.
I listened to this on audio and my mind wandered a lot. It just seemed a bit drawn out. Perhaps reading would have been a better medium. I listened to Schiff's Cleopatra with no issue but this was just less engaging for me. There was a widow on trial named Dorcas Hoar, that always grabbed me back.
Spending my lunch break getting mad at history for not directly aligning with the musical
This book. I listened to it, then read it. This line as the mother of three white boys spoke to me and honestly my fears of failing to get that part of raising them right.
