1. Anne or Rosalind, the middle names of my grandmothers.
2. Love all of the names of the characters in this whole book series. Sabriel, Lirael, I just love that -el sound at the end of the names.

Epic. Battle. Ending. This book more than makes up for its predecessor with the cliffhanger ending. Nix delivers another masterful novel, continuing the fascinating world-building that he began in “Sabriel”. 1000 ⭐️ out of 10.
Audiobook came in quicker than I expected from the NYPL. Shhhhhhh, don‘t snitch that I‘m still using my NYPL library card.
I almost forgot the #20in4 #newyearspecial starts today! I should be finishing this book and starting the next in the series. @Andrew65
I've been rereading this series. I first read it probably 17 years ago when Across the Wall was the last book in the series. Now there's two more! Reading this as a teenager, I was so inspired by Sabriel and Lirael and how they pushed themselves to become what they were destined to be. I'm so glad I picked them up again.
Finishing out this trilogy with such high praise. A strong, capable female lead, coming-of-age themes, strong world-building—just impressive all around. I love the Lirael story arc that spans this book and the one before—and this one ties things up nicely. Highly recommend this series! I‘m looking forward to diving into some of the other books set in this world.
Continuing my re-read via audio with Tim Curry narrating.
Sam redeems himself somewhat in this book and I continued to enjoy Lirael's story. We learn a bit more about the Disreputable Dog and Mogget, both characters I thoroughly enjoy.
I nice conclusion to this story and Lirael's story is my favourite form the Old Kingdom books.

Lirael had been taught how to do a fireman‘s carry back in the Great Library (...) though she hadn‘t practiced it in several years. Not since Kemmeru‘s illicit still had caught fire when Lirael was doing her turn on the librarians‘ fire brigade. She was pleased she hadn‘t forgotten the technique, and that Nick was a lot lighter than Kemmeru. Not that it was a fair comparison, as Kemmeru had insisted on being carried out with her favourite books.
Coffee, books, and a good reading spot sometimes feel like all I need from life.
Finished three audiobooks and a graphic novel for June. Really enjoyed all of them, but wanted to highlight Abhorsen bc I picked this series up for a light reread and ended up absolutely loving Tim Curry as narrator. If you have or haven't read this excellent little (classic?) YA or middle grade fantasy trilogy, the audiobook is highly recommended.
Finished book 7!
The Abhorsen series by Garth Nix is one I definitely recommend you read. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Ancelstierre.
Until time....

Since I got out of work 2 1/2 hours early maybe I can finish a book today.....
It‘s a fight to save the world as we know it here in Ancelstierre. And with 120 pages left we‘ll find out soon enough who has won.
#beatthebacklist2019
While I try to get all this work stuff figured out I‘m relaxing and de-stressing in the land of the Abhorsen where the dead walk and plan to take control over the living, or at least that‘s what seems to be happening currently.....
In other news, I changed my username name to one that feels like it fits my reading better.

Abhorsen is the sequel to Lirael and the third book in Nix's Old Kingdom series. My favorite part about it is how Nix reveals the origins of the Charter, the magic system in the series. This book has a great cast of characters, humor, adventure, and plenty of heart.
The third book in the Old Kingdom Chronicles by Nix. This was definitely my favorite. It was awesome seeing all of the characters from the previous books finally align in the story and kick ass together. Again, very impressive character development, especially with the main characters Sam and Lirael. I just started Goldenhand, the newest book in the series, because the story STILL has me hooked. These characters are my life right now, lmao.
So many fantastic #series for today's #marchinbooks prompt
His Dark Materials
Discworld - of course
The Abhorsen Chronicles

Third installment in the Old Kingdom series. A little clunkier than the first two, but still a great read.
It's finally cooled down here in NE so I'm doing some #audiocleaning. Dusting fans and baseboards, cleaning linens and airing everything out! Thank goodness this book is good and helps the time go by 😊
Hell Fucking yes! This book and book series had it all. Magic, death, strong female characters and adventures!
I still have some mixed feelings about this book. It felt a bit slow to start but I really love Lirael and she was one of the main players so I enjoyed that I lot. This book was a lot more political than the other two which didn't interest me as much. Overall a good read but wasn't so fond of the ending.
#anditsaugust #drive I like to use my hour long commute to listen to old favorites. I've built quite the collection. #audible @RealLifeReading
I loved this series now just as much as I did the first time I read it. It's a great fantasy with strong characters. I'm so happy this series has had more books added since the first time I read it.
Look it's Mogget and the Disreputable Dog!
This was a good third part to a great series. I think I liked Book 1 and 2 the best, but only because that's when all my favourite characters were introduced. This one is a good page turner, with a fast pace and plenty of action. Definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes fantasy or is looking to try the genre. It's very accessible to newbies 😊
Reading my book at a cafe for breakfast. Coconut creamed rice (a spin on porridge) with stewed rhubarb. Pretty decadent for a Monday but just the thing for a cold rainy start to the week!
Continuing on with this series. I love these audiobooks. Tim Curry's voice is amazing. Almost done!
Pretty sure this is my third post in the past month about the Disreputable Dog. But seeing as she really is my #favoriteanimalsidekick, I had to post about her again for the #Novemberland challenge. The DD takes such great care of Lirael, who so desperately needed a friend.
What a great conclusion to this part of the story! I'm thrilled to know there is a prequel out there I can read and a new release coming soon (or just recently released). I loved seeing characters from the first book and many of the newer characters from book two appear, but as always I have my favorites in the Disreputable Dog and Mogget. Another great adventure, many close calls, last minute saves, tears and losses, and pleasant surprises.👍👍
Some of my #readathon piles to pick from. Hopefully work on or finish the ones I've already started (top row), and then read some of the others that are due to be returned soon, due for book clubs but I haven't read yet, or that have just been hanging out on my TBR list and I really want to get to them soon. #DeweysReadathon
Hahaha! Even in the worst of circumstances, I love a snarky Mogget!
...Before it even happens, remember I told you so...
Second #sidekick post. It's so hard to find awesome sidekicks who aren't a white guy paired with a white guy or a POC weirdly subservient to a white guy. When I finally thought of one that I love, I needed to post her. The Disreputable Dog is one of my favorite characters in any fantasy setting ever. She is so kind and encouraging to Lirael, but she's free with the tough love, too. Everyone needs a best friend like the Disreputable Dog. #booktober
#mapsinbooks I'm not living anywhere in the Old Kingdom that's not near running water. I'm not living in any parts of Ancelstierre that are on the map either. I don't want my cat getting any ideas from Mogget. #somethingforsept
Finished a re-listen yesterday. Tim Curry's reading of it is up there with my favorites- right next to Tim Dale reading the Harry Potter books. I love this series and can't wait for Goldenhand to be released this October. #24in48. #readathon
Truly an epic end to a fantastic series. The final pages made me sob, but just at the last moment there was vigorous hope. I remember being so sad when I finished all those years ago, but now I'm excited to know that there will be a new Old Kingdom book out soon!
Bloody hell. I forgot that the Dog dies and now I can't stop crying.
It's getting pretty dire in the Old Kingdom but this back deck sure is nice.
Starting Abhorsen, painting my nails, and listening to the Dixie Chicks. Omg, I'm in middle school again.
Had to get my wallet out at work because I'm definitely finishing Lirael tonight and I don't have a copy of Abhorsen. Related: Yes, I am heartbroken that my books don't match now, and no, I am not dealing with it very well, but my wallet appreciates that I'm trying to be responsible here.
