I read about halfway before I decided to bail. This is a book about a girl having an affair with her best friend‘s fiancé. The best friend is kind of a bitch and she REALLY likes the guy so apparently that makes it okay. I dunno, the idea of being cheated on just makes me sick to my stomach so the whole premise was distasteful to me. I actually liked the writing so I‘m not against the author just the theme.

This novel follows the lives of four siblings, Renee, Caroline, Joe and Fiona. When they were very young their mother stopped being their mother for 3 years and this time period became known as “the Pause”. The story follows them from that time on and we see the ups and downs in their lives. And that‘s about it. I‘m not much of a straight fiction reader so this isn‘t my genre normally but I thought I would give it a try and it was fine. 3/5 stars.

I related to a lot in this memoir about growing up in a dysfunctional family. I applaud the author and her siblings for forging their own paths and not surrendering to the life their parents set in motion for them. Life is hard and sometimes being a kid sucks and being a parent can suck, too. We are not responsible for the choices other people make, whether good or bad, right or wrong. Our lives are our own. Great memoir. 4.5/5 stars.

This young adult horror novel was a fun read! I don‘t like being scared or experiencing horror that I feel like could happen in real life so dealing with ghosts and haunted houses was definitely something I could handle. A really good story with some cool characters. 4/5 stars!

Other than a few celebrity memoirs I don‘t think I‘ve actually read one written by someone I didn‘t know. I always thought it would be cool to find out my parents weren‘t really my parents but I‘m told I‘m a mirror image of my aunt on my Dad‘s side so it‘s not likely to happen for me. In that way and a few others I did not relate to the author or her story. I do think a lot of people would enjoy this memoir but maybe it‘s not for me. 3/5 stars

I will not be finishing this trilogy after reading the first book, Jewels of the Sun. This book was fine but I did not connect with either Jude or Aidan. Romances, especially historical romances, used to be my guilty pleasure and I‘m hoping to get back in the genre but it won‘t be with this series and I‘m ok with that. 2.5/5 stars.

Overall I think this is a good book but I felt it was a bit long and I honestly didn‘t really care for anyone in the book that much. I felt bad for the girl at times but she was mostly punished for being stupid and naive. I felt like there was no buildup to the romance, that the girl just pined for the guy half of her life. Other than that it‘s an interesting look into the life of a geisha. 3.5/5 stars.

Super short story about the Darkling from when he was a child. Not that riveting but I‘m always ready to read more about the world of the Grisha. 3/5 stars.

I thought this was a pretty good thriller. I guessed the big twist but it was still a very enjoyable book. It was entirely believable and no one behaved stupidly or anything like that so 4/5 stars from me!

The third book in the trilogy. I thought it was a fitting end and am looking forward to starting this author‘s next series. 4/5 stars

We had such a fun day exploring the United Nations in Geneva. So cool to see the Night Witches mentioned in an exhibit after reading The Huntress.

A little short story in the world of the Grisha by Leigh Bardugo. A kind of creepy version of Hansel and Gretel. Definitely recommend if you‘re reading the other books in the series. 5/5 stars.

I thought this was okay. I didn‘t love the format of the book how it was just reading transcripts of interviews. I think I might have enjoyed this more listening to the audiobook but by the time I thought about it I was halfway through and that would have been another long wait at the library so I just powered through. 3/5 stars.

I‘m not sure yet how I feel about this book. The way the book is written, in snippets of interviews by various members of the band and others, has kept me a bit removed from the story. I‘m not completely immersed in the story as I would want to be. It‘s not a complete bail though as I‘m still invested enough to see what happens.

What a great book! I really loved all of the characters and felt I really knew them by the end of the book. This book really charmed me and I‘ll probably be thinking about it for a little while at least. I‘m really impressed by this author and will look for her other works. 5/5 stars.

Another good book in the Dresden series. I‘m very much invested now into seeing what else the Denarians and fallen angels have in store for Harry and the gang. 4/5 stars.

This second Kate Waters book was better than the first. Like some other readers have mentioned some twists were easy to figure out but I didn‘t get everything. I enjoyed this one. 4/5 stars.

I wouldn‘t call this book a thriller. It was more of a drawn out explanation of how a crime was committed. It wasn‘t necessarily boring but I don‘t think much happened in the book. I thought it was ok. Planning to continue the Kate Waters series, though. The third book was just released this year.

This is our cat, Kisa. She passed away in her sleep in October :( we still miss her every day!

This book does not get great reviews in general. I actually didn‘t think it was horrible. It was short so it wasn‘t like it dragged on and on. I was never bored. I agree that everyone in the book is unlikeable but it actually didn‘t bother me that much. It was an interesting story but probably not going to be a lot of people‘s favorite. 3/5 stars.

An enjoyable read. I didn‘t see the end coming and it was interesting how the story unfolded. 4/5 stars.

In preparation for our trip to #Amsterdam I have these books I‘ll be taking with me! I‘ve also been saving The Silent Patient for this trip to read on the plane! Looking forward to tulips, stroopwaffels and spending time with the hubby!

Book #9 in the series. I admit I haven‘t been overly enamored with Dresden this whole time but I think this is my favorite book of the series so far. All of the secondary characters are really growing on me. 4/5 stars.

This was a fun read... er, I mean listen! I always want to read more books labeled as a “classic” but it never really appeals to me to sit down with one. I‘d much rather be reading a fast-paced fantasy or thriller instead. So hurray for audiobooks! This mystery was slow to unravel but it had me hanging on chapter by chapter. My morning walk to work has been much more exciting these past few weeks! 4/5 stars from me!

There was really nothing spectacular about this book. I skimmed most of it just to see how it ended and nothing really surprised me.

So true. The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen.

Did not make it through 1 chapter of this. The main character kept referring to her father as Daddy, the author introduced two characters within paragraphs of each other, one called Connie and the other called Con, and there was a glaring grammatical error that stopped me in my tracks. After looking at some reviews on Goodreads I decided to put the (e)book down and back away slowly.

I didn‘t realize there was a sequel but when I saw that there was I immediately picked it up. I liked the first book. I thought this book was good for the most part but ended up skimming the last 15% of the book. Their shenanigans were amusing at first but then I got a little bit tired of it. I don‘t have a lot of knowledge about current world politics and events so some of the stuff went right over my head, unfortunately.

My hold finally came through at the library! Can‘t wait to see what the hype is all about and if it deserves all the hype it has gotten!

2. We just watched Four Weddings and a Funeral last night. I had mentioned a few days ago that I had never seen it so my husband said ok we‘re watching it. I thought it was ok. I liked the humour but didn‘t care for the love story.

The 2nd book in the trilogy. My husband gave me a copy of The Six of Crows for Christmas (on my request) but I didn‘t realize it was part of a larger series. So now I‘m reading the original trilogy before I get started on the duology. I am really liking this universe with the Grisha and am looking forward to finishing the third!

I really enjoyed this book! It was so interesting to see the genealogy of the family at the beginning of the book and I continuously referred back to it as the story progressed. For so much story I really liked that it was not a long book. Very readable and engrossing from beginning to end!
