This was an extremely entertaining book. I don‘t think it was nearly as good as All the Light We Cannot See, but we‘ll written and tied together well. Just the knowledge that one story could link hundreds of years and what happens with that story was so wonderful and intriguing. I loved every person‘s story; they were all exciting in their own way.

I‘m reading this and almost everything is resonating with me. “That‘s part of being a good teacher, I think: inspiring people to work their asses off not for you or the class or the grade, but to be better” (193). I want this, but so many high school and middle school students just aren‘t there. The love for learning in a poverty school is just not there. It‘s a means to an end and what that end is will be different for everyone.

“I don‘t get it. Why is it you have to WARN people about who you are? Why can‘t it just be something that happens?”

This book is amazing. It‘s a well written novel about the ins and outs of knowing who you are, figuring out who you are, and the struggles you may have with it. The author put just enough of his own life in it that it‘s remarkably real. It‘s easy to lose the idea that it is fictional.

As far as memoirs go I guess it was okay. I expected more of a revelation at the end. A wrap up. Something

It was a fast read and definitely intriguing, but a little rushed at the end. It had a great mystery and a good twist, but felt the epilogue was a bit too much. At times the repetition was annoying instead of leading up to suspense. The revelations were subtle and that was good. I recommend it as a fluff read… not one to really analyze and think about.

At first, I struggled with this book. My mind was not open and then things happened in Florida politics and with Disney, and I began to have different conversations with different people who began to make sense and proved my thinking was clouded. This book made me think, made me love, made me cry, and made me a better person.

What an emotional, sweet, lovely book. I don't reread books, but I do believe I will read this again. The characters are so true to life and relatable. The writing is amazing, and the literary references are perfect. I have to mark this as one of my favorites.

I can‘t say enough how much I love this book. I don‘t reread books but I can already tell you that I will reread this one. Probably many times. Every page was full of truths. It is sad, it is idiotic, and it is life. Wow. It‘s humorous in the right places. It‘s filled with understanding. And above all… it is everyone. Read it!

I really did love this book. I didn‘t give it 5 stars because of one crucial, irritating thing the author kept doing. Repeating himself… over and over and over again. The story is phenomenal. The mystery…. Phenomenal. But was the author trying to make a page length? If any of the characters said let it go one more time I think I may have thrown the book. Other than that, if you can forgive the author like I did, read the book. It‘s a good one.

This was how it was. Some came to my office to learn, some came to impress, some came to grovel, some came to chat-that was all okay. I don‘t make judgements based on these visits. That would be wrong. I treat every student who walks through those doors the same because we are here to TEACH, if not political science, maybe a little something about critical thinking or even-gasp!-life.

Whoa. What a novel. I can see why it won Best Crime Fiction. The characters got in my head as a reader. They were both real. I was putting all sorts of plots into the book. I didn‘t think it would end where it did… what a twist! You‘ll love this if you love crime novels.

This book was one of the most real pieces of writing I have read in a very long time. Crawling into the head of a teenage girl is one thing, but crawling into the head of an anxious, OCD germaphobe is something else entirely. The anxiety Aza carries is REAL. Being in Aza‘s head was terrifying and relatable. I hope this book has had an impact on teenagers in a positive way and they see the issues people with invisible diseases deal with...

This was a great read! I was intrigued from the beginning. The nature of the victim after being held captive is never explored, so this was refreshing. I‘ve read some reviews that said it was improbable, but in many cases I think people tend to be self destructive especially when suffering from PTSD. If you like a good criminal minds story, you‘ll love this one!

I loved this book from start to finish. I can‘t believe that this is her first novel. The poetry of the words, the depth of her character, the rawness of human experiences are all so compelling. The mystery of the murder entangled in the history of Kya kept me turning the pages and wanting to know more... about both! Shame on truths that I know lie in this book and I hope for many it‘s eye opening.
