Are You My Mother? is a great MF book for new readers. This book is about a baby bird that has hatched when his mother was away getting food. The baby bird goes on an adventure to find his mother asking every animal he comes across if they are his mother. www.betterlesson.com has a great lesson plan to go with this story. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a classic SF/RF book for young children. This book is about the life of a caterpillar and how they grow and transform. This book would be a great book to use for a DR because there is a lot of opportunities for children to represent the different things in the book. www.scholastic.com has different lesson plans for this book including creating a caterpillar or butterfly. #UCFLAE3414SP20

This book is a TL picture book perfect to introduce traditional literature to children. This story tells the famous story of The 3 Little Pigs that has been around for centuries. It has also received the Caldecott Award in 1993. www.scholastic.com has great extension activities for this book, like ‘A Letter to A. She‘s Silverstein recurved a Grammy in 1984 for Best Recording of Children‘s book. www.rif.org has great resources for students and teachers to use with this book, like word searches and lesson plans. #UCFLAE3414SP20

She learns to navigate through third grade with many bumps along the way! An activity that would work great with this book would be making a graphic organizer about making connection in the story like Text-to-Text, Text-to-Self, etc. #UCFLAE3414SP20

When the farmer does not return their request, the animals go on strike! This Newbery Award winning book is a great read! Matt de la Peña wrote this GN about a boy and his grandmothers trip on the bus after church one Sunday. CJ‘s grandmother shows him how to appreciate the things around him. This story has a warm ending that can bring up a great discussion. #UCFLAE3414SP20
