This biography about Bessie Coleman is very powerful for children. This book would be great for a DR or a PR. This book is also by Nikkie Grimes, and won the Coretta Scott King award for children‘s literature. This https://www.nikkigrimes.com/teacher/besstg.html lesson plan from the authors website offers great writing opportunities for students. The ESOL strategy to be used could be 16. Integrate listening reading and writing activities.

ebrown The UDL strategy could be for language and symbols (2.1-2.5). This would provide an opportunity for the teacher to modify the lesson and present the instructions in multiple forms. Instead of asking students to write a response, they could create a video or any other media outlet for the project. #ucflae3414f19 5y

In this F picture book by David Wiesner, there are few words, but readers are sure to know the magic of what is going on. The pictures won this book a caldecott. It reminds students that miracles happen all around them all the time. This book would be successful as a RA. Similar to the Hidden Figures movie that came out a while ago, this biography by Julia Mosca showcases the brilliant minds of women that were often overlooked by history. This book could also be transformed into a readers theatre, using this great lesson plan as a guide: http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/readers-theatre-1... The UDL coincides with Sustaining Effort & Persistence fostering collaboration and

ebrown community. It does this during the process of the RT, the students relying on one another for the production. The ESOL strategy I would use would be #27. Writing headings that show introductions or transition from one idea to another. This would be easy to achieve by creating signs that have each woman‘s name on them. #ucflae3414f19 5y
fabozzia This looks like a great book! It is so important for students to read things like this. Also, some students will connect with this in so many different ways. 5y

Owen is an adorable F picture book about a young mouse who struggles to give up his favorite comfort item. In the end his family works together to find a way to help him keep it around all the time! It won a caldecott for the beautiful pictures inside. For this book I would do a RA preferably with kindergarteners towards the beginning of the school year. http://web.uvic.ca:8080/wits/pdfs/schools/books/owen/owen.pdf this lesson plan is perfect for

ebrown incorporating ESOL students into the classroom using ESOL strategy #46 “use discovery learning activities (hands on activities)” because in the lesson plan it specifically blocks out time for students to draw about their favorite comfort item. Time of Wonder is a RF picture book by Robert McCloskey. It won a caldecott for for the beautiful pictures inside. What I love about this book is the way each page reads like really smooth poetry. The descriptive writing is beautiful and beneficial not only for younger students, but for grades 4+ as well. This book could be used in IR or PR to coincide with this lesson plan: https://www.cpalms.org/Public/PreviewResourceUrl/Preview/25646

ebrown This lesson plan is about how the setting of a story impacts the plot. The setting plays a huge role in this story, and dictates the plot greatly.
