February 2025 Book #5

This is a collection of short stories, powerful ones in terms of topics. First book I read by this author and looking forward to read more books by her. However, my experience with short story collections is that I like some more that the others and this is not an exception. Also, some stories I saw them more narrative, informative than a short story per se. It was the same experience I had with In A Dream Hoyse ⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) by Carmen Maria Machado. That one is not a short story collection but sometimes I saw also the story as one informative, giving statics or facts that disconnect the idea, the flow, the line, premise of the book. That was my experience with both readings. But I really liked this book and the message. 3.5⭐️ 4w

January 2025 Book #9
This is the conclusion (supposedly) of Mirren Triggs trilogy) I know first book is already translated (The Snow Girl) which is a Netflix series.
I liked the conclusion. At the end we see a mature Mirren who decides to make a choice in her relationship and life in general. The case in this story is so sad. A body was found with his “mouth sewn” and a father looking for his son who disappeared 30 years ago. 3.8/4⭐️

A good book, but it felt too familiar... oh because it has the EXACT SAME plot as the movie Hope Floats. Book #32 in 2025

Allthebookclubs Plot: Wife finds out husband cheats with her best friend in a very public way. She goes back to her home town where she was the pageant queen and runs into her high school flame - who‘s building a house, and whose wife died. 2mo
Allthebookclubs The cheater fills their daughter‘s head with broken promises. Wife hears a crash and finds out her dad had a heart attack and dies. Cheating husband shows up at the funeral, tells her to come back home so they can be a family again but he‘s staying with the mistress. 2mo
Allthebookclubs Their young daughter realizes he‘s a POS and screams at him while high school flame guy is on the porch to declare his love and overhears everything. That‘s this book. And Hope Floats. 2mo

Hooked_on_books I just did my initial rapid scroll through the list and I love that there‘s always a number of things on there I‘ve never even heard of. I‘ve read 27 already but I‘ll be honest, there are books on there I do not want to read! 7mo
Readerann @Hooked_on_books 27!!! 👏👏👏 I‘m with @BarbaraBB. It‘s so much fun reading all the ToB “stuff”, I can‘t seem to get to the books. 😁 7mo

The last of the Mobile Library Mystery series. I'm glad it's done because I was finding Israel more and more tiresome. But I also found the stories themselves intriguing, meaning I wish there were more. I may have to look at other Ian Sansom novels. #32-2024

I love a good coming of age love story, and this one hit the mark! Where was Elliott when I was growing up?! Macy carried so much grief on her shoulders and my heart ached for her. Book #32 in 2024
