Somehow there's also enough time for people to fall in love? The book is full of action, deceit, politics, corruption, and I don't know what to do with my life now.

How the story itself ends leaves you hollow and sad and ugly crying. But it's a beautiful story nonetheless, full of pain and loss, but also of magic and hope and friendships that don't die.

I recently finished reading A Game of Thrones (only the first book of the series) and I'm a little disappointed that I already knew all the plot twists because I have seen the TV show. Nevertheless, I always love how characters are developed in books, both physically and conscientiously. It's a much more immersing experience. Plus side of having already watched the show? The numerous characters in the book had faces and I didn't get confused. 😅

I feel like I find the deepest, most touching pieces of writing in children's books. I find this really beautiful. Reading The Wind in the Willows is making me calmer.

Despite the fact that all the characters were hopelessly screwed up, I enjoyed the plot. The climax was was actually pretty satisfying for me.

I read a lot of reviews from people complaining that the women in the novel had no self worth. I mean, yes, they didn't, isn't that an integral part of the story? I don't know what that's about. I liked the book overall.

I'm going through the book extremely slowly, but it's definitely an interesting read.

Did anyone else find A Modest Proposal a bit creepy? If I hadn't known in advance that it was a satire, I would have been horrified. All that baby murdering, cannibalism... I was too scared to focus on what he was trying to mock. I don't know, it just didn't feel enough satirical to me.

2017 was a good year reading-wise. 😁
I started the year with Popsugar reading challenge, but ended up reading just any book that came in sight. I'm glad I could at least reach the desired book count anyway.

So, I picked up the audio book version for A Short History of Nearly Everything narrated by William Roberts. I'd heard a lot of praise about this one, but I don't feel it. It's been over a month since I started it and I'm still barely 15% done. I guess audio books are not my thing. But I'm the kind of person who finishes a book no matter what, so I guess I'm stuck.

Christopher is a boy with Asperger's syndrome who likes maths, dogs, and playing detective. Apart from his father, his school teacher Siobhan is the only person whom he trusts completely. One night, a dog in his neighbourhood is murdered, and Christopher decides to do some detecting, and he ends up solving not just Wellington, the dog's murder mystery, but also the mystery of his mother's sudden death.
