Me trying to keep up with all the characters in this damn book...

Rachel.Rencher Oh, no...that one is next on my TBR! I've heard I may need to draw a diagram to understand it 😂 7y
jes @Rachel.Rencher I'm almost halfway into it and it's still setting up the plot. It's slow so far but not bad. I did really have to make a mental chart of how the characters are connected. It's a little tough especially when it skips around the way it does. 7y

I'm two stories into this collection of short stories and I'm just not enjoying it. I'll stick with it though, because it takes a lot for me to give up on a book. If anyone else has read this, is it worth sticking with or should I not waste my time?

TheJOMOreader It took me months to read it. I'd read one story, move on to something else, and sprinkle more stories in here and there. In the end, I liked the book as a whole, but it was so weird and quirky (but also weird! And quirky!) that I just took a little at a time. 7y
jes @LibrarianAF Thanks! I think I'll stick with it. 7y

First, let's talk about the cover. Gorgeous! Next, let's talk about the plot. Seems like a really cool story. It starts out pretty strong and sucks me into the story... then the story starts to drag on and on and sometimes bores me. I stick with it because there's some mystery I haven't totally figured out yet. It is still monotonous. But somewhere around 40 pages towards the end, it starts to pick up. Too bad it took way too long to get there.

I started this book tonight and it's so bonkers and bizarre, but in a good way. It's nice to read a book you don't have to take so seriously sometimes. I hope it continues to keep me laughing.

I had a ton of books in my wishlist through my digital library only to discover that 1/3 of them are no longer available because my state didn't repurchase those titles. This was my face when I discovered how many books I won't be able to read now.

Catherine, the main character, is an insufferable twat. She meets and falls in love with the man of her insufferable twat dreams, but homeboy is as shady as Catherine is insufferable. I knew something was up with William from the beginning and I guessed it correctly. All of this sounds like it would have made the book a sure DNF contender, but I finished it and was even surprised by another sly little plot twist. Catherine is still a twat though.

Taking a break from reading to play this new board game I bought. Anyone else played it? Confession: I was a bit confused after reading the rules, so I had to watch a YouTube video of someone explaining it. It seems fun, and my character is a crossbow carrying steampunk chemist!

Pickpick

I liked this book. I'm not sure why it has such mixed reviews. I enjoyed seeing the plot unfold and the story kept me interested. I was able to speed through this one and didn't want to put it down. This is one of the better books I've read in the past several months.

The Forgotten Girls | Sara Blaedel
Mehso-so

This book was just okay. It was very tedious and seemed to ramble on too much when it came to side plots that really had nothing to do with the real story. I am usually good at figuring out the murders are in books and movies, but I didn't see this one coming because all the babbling (maybe intentionally) kept me a bit detached and distracted. It was a book that I kept putting down and just wanted to be done with in the end. Good premise though.
