the world really needed this ethereal, elegant zombie story that reads like a fairytale so i am really glad it exists.

Only 100 pages in and Hoang already has my heart with these characters. I really will read anything she writes.
This absurdly wonderful novel makes my top 5 for 2017 releases, without question. It's a dark, romantic, and at times downright hilarious little romp through the lands of faerie and it completely slipped its way into my 🖤. I'd say it's perfect for fans of Holly Black's modern faerie tales, Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely books and Laini Taylor's dreamy prose.
I have a double signed copy of this beautiful story I called "as layered and detailed as a Hieronymus Bosch painting" before deciding that was kind of douchey. (It really is though.) Anyone got a good plan for their Lazlo sticker??? Asking for a neurotic friend.
"Sons of Anarchy meets Thelma & Louise." I've been hoping we'd get a copy of this biker gang YA novel before pub day, and today's the day! Honestly, canNOT read this fast enough. Be still my biker's-daughter heart. !!!!
It's absolutely wonderful. 😭 Pure magic, and just the most gorgeous love letter to fantasy books in all the world over.
I got the gorgeous UK version for christmas from my sister, so naturally ... !
apparently I never reviewed this on here. It was a fever dream of magic and mayhem and secrets and sisters and magnificent dresses! Major #TheNightCircus vibes and gorgeous prose. I can't wait to buy me a finished copy -- please give this thing gilded end papers or something! It deserves it. I loved it.
I bought this on 11/9, looking desperately for a distraction. It was okay. Hot and heavy new adult romantic fantasy. I found it to be fantasy lite, and the romance felt ... off, at times, due to the super bossy dude. I'd recommend if you're a big fan of the romantic aspects of #SarahJMaas books.
Hey. Thanks for being a fucking awesome place to be right now, Litsy! I honestly didn't realize there was a social media outlet void of vitriol (from my perspective) and I love it. Reading breeds compassion. I really believe that. #ImStillWithHer #StrongerTogether #NastyWoman
Gotta get me a finished copy of this funny, heartening, emotional, and downright wonderful memoir. I read an op-ed in the times by Lindy and started following her on Twitter in the last month and she's just GREAT. Then I remembered receiving this arc! And oh, I needed this read right now. So, read this. She's awesome. Yay ladies and stuff. #feminism #feministbooks
Making a valiant effort to read all the #miamibookfair books, especially MG/YA titles, and this is my current title! So far, The descriptions of sumptuous spreads of Persian food are just about killing me...so, so good.
This is a winner for me. It's a sad and beautiful and interesting gem of a novel about memory and black girlhood in 1970s Brooklyn. It's awesome.
books about faeries, from that time I tried to participate in a 'bookstagram' challenge but what a joke, I have zero commitment skills. I took a couple cute photos though!
chosen from #NebulaAward suggested 2017 reading list- So, this book worked for me but I might not recommend it to everyone. The prose is gorgeous but repetitive and heavy handed too. I didn't want to put it down, it felt like slipping into a dream. The Indian folklore elements also worked to give it a fresh and new feeling in this overly saturated sub-genre, & I loved reading a mashup retelling of tales I've not yet read. And yay for a standalone!
My hurricane reading of choice- nothing better to ease my nerves, totally distract me, make me laugh aaand swoon. I love Tessa Dare and this book might be her very best! #smartgirlsreadromance
...But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and the nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren't chosen, when there was no royal blood in your veins. When the world owed you nothing, you demanded something of it anyway.
This ARC is so pretty, I am sure that the completed hardcover will be gorgeous!
What a thing, this!
read my first-ever regency romance...and actually loved it! Just the right amount of depth beneath the humor and heat, it was a real joy to read! Any #VaginalFantasy book club members on this thing?? Also, this is a still from Outlander but I couldn't help but imagine this ridiculously beautiful red dress on that one scene...;)
A clever, well written 'backstory' to Lewis Carroll's Queen of Hearts!
No Such Thing by Ella Bailey is our favorite fall time picture book! We are all about the ghosties.
Books & Books miami is where we #getindie on the the regular, the kids section is just magical ✨✨✨ doesn't hurt that mama works there.
It's EMPIRE OF STORMS day!!!!!!!!! ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ and I don't have my book yet...
Finished this behemoth today, and I loved it. It was dense and painful and magical and beautiful and awful and sexy and it gave me a lot of feeeeelings. I'm honestly not ready to read the next, I need a bit of time for my battered insides to mend. But I'm glad to have finally read it!
I am not resigned to the shutting away of loving hearts in the hard ground.
So it is, and so it will be, for so it has been, time out of mind:
Into the darkness they go, the wise and the lovely. Crowned
With lilies & with laurel they go; but I am not resigned.
Lovers & thinkers, into the earth with you.
Be one with the dull, the indiscriminate dust.
A fragment of what you felt, of what you knew,
A formula, a phrase remains,—but the best is lost.
When you love a book so much you don't want to leave it home alone. This first volume paperback which includes chapters 1-6 is holy-sh*t levels of dark and beautiful. HIGHLY recommend for readers of #PrettyDeadly or #Saga.
I don't know why I waited so long to open this arc. I'm loving this SOOO MUCH! Fan of #Uprooted by Naomi Novik? Or the #QueenoftheTearling series?? I think this is our fave this fantasy year, guys. Into itttt💃🏽
Life was mostly remembering or waiting, Birdie thought. Remembering when things were better, waiting for things to get better again. There was never a now, never a time when you said, "This is it."
Been a while since it read MG but this cover/title totally got me today! Excited to dive in.
Favorite magical girl squad since Sailor Moon. Monsters, magic, mayhem, lady friendship, a complicated villain, diversity, a smidge of romance and all the moon/star iconography your heart can take. Not to mention all the cute!
Catching up on graphic novel/comic bookery! Weetz can't resist a pretty cover. Just kidding she wants attention and food. Probably mostly food.
Sweet, imaginative book perfect for book lovers and their spawn. 👌🏻 out in September.
It's been a while since I've read an urban fantasy novel...because I lost interest. This one comes highly highly recommended from beloved, trustworthy people (for YEARS), so I got it.
I gave this book to my husband YEARS ago and he just now reading it. He is obsessed though. I told him so!
Powerful and relevant. Instantly familiar and yet transcendent. I have a lot of love for this book.
Delightful, luxurious, gorgeously written. A one sitting read. I like what Jenny Offill said, "it contains multitudes."
