I‘m feeling kind of blue this Tuesday so I took a picture of my shelves to try to cheer myshelf up (😅). Hope you‘re all having good Tuesdays! 😊

It sure was quiet on my way to work! Managed to get lots of reading in 😊 I‘m currently doing a reread of this series through the full cast audiobooks—they‘re brilliant! #24in48
Uuuuugh I‘m so close to the end! But I have to go to work ☹️ #24in48
Back at it! #24in48. Do you think I can get 9 hours of reading in today when I also have a 6-hour work shift? We‘ll see! I‘m gonna try!! 💪
LOVED this!! Book 5 of #24in48. Thanks so much to @xicanti and @Lacythebookworm for suggesting I read it next!
HELP!! I can NOT decide what to read next! 😫😖😅 #24in48
Finished book 3! I liked this one a lot! Forgot how much I liked these characters (I know a lot of people found them annoyed but I think they‘re sweet and cute 😅) #24in48
Finished book 2 for #24in48! This had an underwhelming start but got very good in the second half.
I can finally post my TBR for the #24in48 readathon! I picked up my holds from the library earlier today. 😄This stack is large, but the goal of my readathon TBRs is never to finish. In fact the opposite! I fear reaching the end and being lost, so I always plan to have tons to choose from. 😅📚 Are you reading any of these during the readathon?
This was my TBR for January! I‘ve only got the books on the right left to read. Somehow I‘ve already read all the books stacked under the cup 😬 Were any of these on your TBR this month?
AT LAST it had arrived!!! (Shouldn‘t preorders arrive the day they come out? Otherwise I‘d just go to the bookstore!)
Everything else is on hold! Gonna start this one right away!
What a cute collection!! Didn‘t love all the stories, but liked a lot of them a lot!
Which of these should I read next??? I can‘t decide!
Went to the bookstore looking for the book for my next book club meeting. They didn‘t have it. Still left with three books 😭
I knew it was a bad idea from the start!!! (Also has anyone else experienced that it‘s hard to buy books in numbers smaller than three?? Like if I‘m buying one I might as well buy two but two is a weird number so I should just buy three??? WHY, BRAIN?)
I liked this but didn‘t LOVE it. My biggest problem was that whatever Jude might think of herself, she is a TERRIBLE spy. She blunders into things and only does well thanks to plot necessity. I also just never got pulled in for some reason (maybe due to constantly cringing at Jude‘s terrible decisions 😅). BUT I LOVED some things about it, like the twists and turns, and Jude‘s willingness to be violent. Eagerly awaiting book 2!
#bookhaul! 😊 The books I ordered from BookOutlet on Boxing Day arrived!
I am addicted to TOR‘s novellas. They‘re just so CUTE and bite-sized. I bought a bunch of less popular ones this time. I‘m also super excited to read more by Taylor Jenkins Reid after LOVING The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo last year.
Have you read any of these?
I do this entry in my book journal at the end of every year. It came out kind of messy this time but oh well!
Two full journals and two new ones! 😊
.
Moving from my grey bullet journal into a new blue one and from my black moleskine book journal into the small grey dotted journal.
.
I am particularly excited to have filled the book journal. It really is full! The structured format of the moleskine passion journal wasn‘t working for me. I don‘t always have that much to say about books! Looking forward I moving into a blank one. 😊
Listened to this on audio and LOVED it. Mara Wilson reads it herself. Did not expect to like it quite as much as it did but it really hit my heart. 5/5
I really enjoyed this collection! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I‘m finally going to have real bookshelves in my apartment!!!!!!!
I think this book was just a bit over-hyped for me. I expected to enjoy it but it's just so. darn. SLOW. Seriously nothing at all really happens for the first ~40-50%. There are also too many characters with little distinguishing them, all introduced very quickly, making it hard to keep track. The point of view shifted seemingly randomly as well (paragraph to paragraph). Finally, I saw the twist at the end coming a mile away. I feel cheated 😅😕📚
Things I read in September, with my 5-star reads highlighted (none last month) 😊
(Very belated! 😳)
#libraryhaul! 😊 which should I read first?
My collection of Tor.com novellas is growing! I love the novella format so much, and these little physical copies are just soooo cute.
(Grad school is destroying me this semester though, so I have stopped reading much or using litsy 😢 I miss it here!!)
Thanks for all your comments, everyone! I have decided to bail on this one 👍
I liked the characters and was interested in the plot, but the device the author uses to fill us in on the worldbuilding--lliterally having us read pages and pages and pages of textbook-like summaries of everything--is just SO UNBELIEVABLY LAZY I CANT TAKE IT.
OMG SO MUCH TELLING
This started off super exciting and fun, but the author's device for allowing the reader to discover the protagonist's lost memories is having us both read LONG DRY BORING summaries of them written by the protagonist's past self. So much so that the book is like 80% "history of the world and your life" and 20% actual plot. IT'S MAKING ME MAD.
Can someone who's read this tell me if it ever gets better? Considering a DNF.
Have to finish this by tomorrow afternoon for the book club that I run ? it was our "long book for reading over the summer" selection so of course I started it a week before we meet.
It seems like EVERYONE is reading The Secret History this month, very cool! ?
All the books I read in August, with my favourites highlighted.
(still in a reading slump 😢)
(The Goblin Emperor is my favourite book of all time, and I re-read it this month since I didn't feel like reading much else. I tried the audiobook this time, and it was great! Although, I did disagree with some character voices, as happens when you listen to a book you've already read)
Really enjoyed this! Went out and picked up book 2 as soon as I finished, and have already started, so I guess that's a good sign! 😊it did have an awful lot of telling though; each chapter starts with several paragraphs of italic stuff describing an aspect of the world, a technique that always just seems lazy to me (it's boring! Why not just show me that worldbuilding within the story??). But it won me over in the end!
IM READING & ENJOYING A BOOK
Progress!
Things read in July, with my favourites highlighted (none this month)
Depression makes it hard to read, wheeeeee
Me starting this book:
"It can't possibly be as good as people say"
"I don't even LIKE historical fiction"
"It's probably over-hyped"
Me 15 pages in:
"OMG I LOVE THEM SO MUCH I CANT STOP GRINNING THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD"
Too bad I work Sundays and cannot sit around reading all day ? please feel VERY SORRY for me :P
Do you ever get a craving for a SUPER specific kind of book? For months I've really really wanted to read a novel about a normal woman who meets a very famous baseball or hockey player in coincidental circumstances and then eventually they fall in love. I don't even read much romance! Anyway this book is EXACTLY that and so far it is definitely fulfilling my craving! (Does anyone have recs for similar books?)
This was SO LOVELY! Definitely a book MANY here on litsy would get a lot out of ? Paul describes periods of her life and how specific books and books in general fit into them. Honestly, I found the "story" (her life, haha ?) not super interesting--probably because I'm just not a memoir person. It's all the bookish anecdotes and philosophy that shine out. It's just so heart warming to read about a shared love of reading sometimes! ❤️??
LOOK WHAT I PICKED UP FROM THE LIBRARY TODAY 😍📚 sooo excited to read this one!
It seems appropriate that I happened to read this section on the subway 😀
