Thrifty find! Fallon is a staunch advocate of traditional over processed foods; basic message is eat whole foods in moderation. I like that approach, but caveat it‘s preachy in tone and you have to take the science offered with a grain of salt *pun*, given the pub date and bias. Also, I‘m not inclined to grind my own grains and many people on a tight budget may find some of the ideas beyond their means and/or ability to source.

Tamra P.S. I‘m not going to eat offal or brains, despite the nutritional value, unless it‘s in a highly processed form like a hot dog! 😜 4y

Lcsmcat Did you try any of the lacto-fermented recipes? I keep seeing this pop up as a good source for them, but your review has me a little concerned about quality and safety. 2y
Tamra @Lcsmcat I haven‘t tried them, so I can‘t vouch. I have fermented foods from other recipes/books before and had varying success. So good for your biome is my understanding. 2y
Lcsmcat @Tamra There‘s that, and it‘s a use for the whey that‘s a byproduct of my yogurt making. So win-win. 😀 2y
Tamra @Lcsmcat yes! I‘d like to make Greek style yogurt. 2y
Lcsmcat @Tamra I make it in my crock pot and then strain it. If you want my recipe send me your email address to mischalynx at msn dot com and I‘ll send it to you. 2y
Tamra @Lcsmcat thank you - will do! 😊 2y

Cinfhen AMAZING 😍 5y
mangokittty @Cinfhen So many! She's sorting them incase we're quarantined. It's fun to see all the different recipes and variations. 5y
mangokittty @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I know! My favorites are the cookie books. I will definitely be trying them out. 5y
Jinjer Ooooo can I come over and look at them?????? Oh...no, I guess not. COVID19.

What is that one on the right with an old lady and little boy? Or maybe he's a young man, actually. Can't see from here.

Post-holidays, we‘re all in the mood for something sharp and fresh, like ginger carrots.

I like this book: it advocates passionately for a diet that avoids processed foods and includes saturated fats, sprouted grains and seeds, bone broths, and natural fermentation.

I make no effort to evaluate the merits of the nutrition science, but the recipes are easy, unusual, and satisfying.

(Illustrations are B&W, but it‘s my book so I get to color it!)

Soubhiville I love that you colored it! Makes it special and one of a kind. 7y

#TBRtemptation post 6! This is a really thick cookbook, so there's plenty to be found within its depths. The nutrition researcher and culinary entrepreneur looks at historical food customs with health in mind. The 700+ recipes she proffers are for exacting gourmets and busy parents alike. There's a wealth of nutrition info, research summaries, and serving suggestions, to accompany those recipes. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Lindy I like this one, despite the fact that it frowns upon vegetarianism. Sally Fallon and I agree to disagree, I guess. 7y

This book has been on my TBR for (I kid you not) *years*. Finally reading it, thanks to my Prime trial, and then I'll decide if I want my own copy!
