#LiteraryCrew read this one earlier this year...the many short stories in this introduce a #BeautifulStranger or two to the main characters. Each story is set in the WWI era, before, during or after the war. I chose to highlight this one today in memory of the war and for Armistice/Veterans Day. #Movember
Finally finished this collection. While some of the stories were better than others, I‘ve learned that I‘m still not the biggest fan of short stories. However, the stories that I enjoyed the most made me a little misty-eyed, and I appreciated the various topics and settings found in this collection. #FallOPFiction #buddyread
Final finish for #24in48! I have almost reached the 24hr mark and won‘t finish another book, so this will be final finish.
As with any collection of short stories, some of these were better than others. I have added to my TBR with novels by a few of these authors. I enjoyed this #FallOPFiction with @Librarybelle and @CouronneDhiver and my other fellow readers.
Book 12 of #14books14weeks
This was between a pick and so-so for me. I‘m not a short story fan but I didn‘t know much about WWI. That & the #buddyread schedule kept me going.
In honor of the quote above & the Armistice, I wanted to share this awesome recording the Imperial War Museum recreated the sounds of the Armistice.

#Fallopfiction
We‘re on our final week for #FallOPFiction . I‘m a little behind on the short stories...how is everyone else doing?
Later on today I‘ll post info on the next #buddyread . @CouronneDhiver and I are looking for a name for our group. We love doing these buddy reads, and we‘ve consistently hosted several, with a few more in the works, that it‘s time for us to create a more formal name/hashtag for our group. If you have an idea, let us know!
We‘re onto week two of our #FallOPFiction #buddyread ! So far, I like Jennifer Robson‘s story the best, though I‘m partial to anything by Willig. What are your thoughts?
I‘ve read the first two - liking these so far! I‘m loving the quotes you guys are posting. #FallofPfiction #buddyread
After being in a bit of a reading slump this past week, I zoomed through the first story in this book as well as quite a bit more reading so far today.
#fallopfiction
😋 The first story was good and made me hungry for these.

Just downloaded on Hoopla and diving in! I‘m not usually a lover of short stories but we‘ll see how this goes.
#FallOPFiction
This starts next week! Who‘s ready to join the #FallOPFiction #buddyread ? Use the above dates as a reading suggestion - read at your own pace and post throughout. Include @CouronneDhiver and @Librarybelle in your posts, so we can follow along too!
#wanderingjune #greengreengrassofhome @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB Soldiers away at war definitely feel homesick and long to see something as simple as the grass in their yard again.
It‘s time for another #buddyread , hosted by @CouronneDhiver & @Librarybelle ! We‘re reading the short story collection Fall of Poppies, stories set during World War I.
This is an informal, low-pressure buddy read. Used the above reading guide as a suggestion...many of us finish ahead of schedule, and many of us finish after! Let us know you‘ll join us, use #FallOPFiction in your posts, and tag us. We look forward to another fun buddy read!

Wonderful short story collection authored by 9 female historical fiction writers.Covers various settings during the 4 years of WWI, including Paris,Brussels,Ireland, small English villages, military hospitals, the trenches.Families of all kinds experiencing births, deaths, grievous loss, reunion. Most wondering what they are fighting for...Exhausted, weary, hungry.
The quote is from the final story,Fall of Poppies.
Drooped my son of at UConn yesterday so of course we all visited the bookstore. Found this book on bargain table.
Loved this book of short stories! I enjoyed some stories better than others. But they were all well written and nice to read.
These aren‘t poppies in the picture but don‘t my Morning Glories look pretty!

Haven‘t read a collection of short stories in a while. This should be good. My poppies don‘t look so good!
Haven't read short stories in a while so I'm picking this one up.
September reads! Finished 4 this month which is saying a lot considering we were moving this week and it was the end of the fiscal year at my job so there wasn't much down time.
Stats: 1 Audio, 1 Read-Along With Husband, 1 For School, 2 For Review.
Fav: Fall of Poppies
I enjoyed these moving stories of men and women impacted by WWI. A couple of stories were romances and others were about the impacts on families, especially mothers and sons. Most of the stories were written by "new to me" authors, so I will be adding some new books to the pile!
I'm really enjoying these romances that are tied to World War I.
This book gave me all the feels! I alternated between feelings of joy, of sadness. So breathtaking, this book gave me the chills, in the best of ways!
