pickThis book has some words in spanish so I think it could introduce students some important words in a different language and open student's minds to a different culture. It doesn't have a lot of dialogue but it still brings a really powerful message.

This biography age appropriately tells her story and the tragedy that inspired her to paint. pickThis B, PB by Yuyi Morales is perfect to teach children about an influential person in history; Frida Kahlo. This book received the Pura Belpre Award for obvious reasons. Perfect for a RA as it‘s short and fun. It is also written in spanish so it‘s perfect for our ESOL learners. ESOL #28 & #29 work well w/ this book. UDL 9.3 can be implemented as this book is perfect for an ESOL students independent reading as well. #ucflae3414sp20

A great book to have in a classroom with bilingual students or students looking to learn another language.
pickThis book shows a great example of language from a different culture. On each page is 1-4 Spanish words and underneath is translated into English. The illustrations help shows what is being said and creates the meaning of the book. This shows great diversity and the life of Frida.
